Who Trusts Labour?

I have been a union member paying political levy for 30 years now. a few years back I joined the full labour party, just to vote against Corbyn in the last leadership election. Whilst I totally understood where he wanted to go I though that he was too much too soon, and we needed to gradually bring the psyche of the country back to a more fairer deal for everyone.

However after the last election - yes he didn't win, but he has changed the direction of the politics of this country, in the the tories have realised that they need to try to appear to care.

For me Corbyn has done a lot even in opposition in that he has reset the position of our politics.

That is why Labour is so important for those at the bottom of the pile.  The mere threat of losing power is enough to ensure the Tories at least spare a few crumbs for the rest of us.

During the fifties, the era of Butskellism, you couldn't tell Labour from the Tories.  The Tories crashed out of power disastrously (for them) in 1945, and took steps to see that it didn't happen again.  In 1950 and 51 they still polled less votes that Labour, but in '51 got back in, and proceeded to prove that they could run the welfare state better than Labour had.

So yes a Labour government next time, or at least the threat of one to keep the Tories honest.

Come on, this thread is for random polling and cookies rants, save the serious posts for the proper labour thread.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

No, I’m “far left” I’m so far on the left that you couldn’t find me on the map. Momentum? Yeah they’re left ish but so what?
