Graham
Cronulla are closer to picking their coach for 2019 after meeting the two frontrunners for the job this week. Interim coach John Morris and Penrith Panthers assistant Cameron Ciraldo met Sharks officials on the Australia Day (Monday) for talks about filling Shane Flanagan's place following his resignation earlier this month. Morris, who has the support of the players, seems to be the frontrunner for the job, but it seems Cronulla officials are tempted by Ciraldo. It is understood Ciraldo and Morris are the club's top priorities, despite being linked to former Manly coach Trent Barrett and St Helens coach Justin Holbrook. It was Morris who took the Sharks' NRL squad on a three-day pre-season camp to Kiama this week. it looks like he has made a good impression since taking over the top job following the NRL's breach notice issued to Flanagan before Christmas. Graham
Well there you go: Quote John Morris will be appointed Cronulla Sharks’ head coach, taking over from premiership-winning mentor Shane Flanagan. The Daily Telegraph revealed on Thursday afternoon that the 38-year-old will be announced as the club’s full-time mentor as soon as the final details of his new contract are thrashed out. Morris reportedly faced stiff competition from highly-regarded Panthers assistant coach Cameron Ciraldo, and there was also speculation that two more experienced candidates were in the discussion.
