  • Graham changed the title to NRL Match Thread Round 17 - Saturday - Bulldogs v Titans, Manly v Tigers, Raiders v Roosters

To see Storm play like this during a season where they are playing away every game is impressive. Tough on their loyal Melbourne supporters.

Its also good considering that a fair number of first choice players are out injured.

The big difference that's a big plus for Storm is the weather, they have not missed the Winter down there and it's also why Melbourne is known as Bleak City. With most of the senior team's families also being in the "bubble" is another big plus and also helping the Foxx enjoy himself in what could be his last season but he may see it out! Storms system has coped better with the injuries than most teams have done. The Coaching Staff and the Storm Administration have done an excellent job in trying circumstances and it's showing with results on the field. Would Penrith be at the top given a similar set of circumstances????

On reflection:

Storm's professionalism turned that round.

When they were under the cosh they worked hard and prevented Souths from taking full advantage of their dominance.

They played the long game and gradually took charge when it mattered.

It was the errors Storm pressed Souths into making and then taking their own chances clinically that saw Melbourne come out on top.

Christian Welsh is a strange case, every game it seems he suffers a cut or a headknock, today's due to friendly fire from a teammate, not a unusual occurrence, the teammate gets a HIA yet Welsh plays on despite a deep cut and looking distinctly wobbly on his feet. With the amount of knocks he's had you would think he would be stood down for a few weeks for his own good, he's one player who's long term health you would worry about.

Well that was a tough encounter.

Melbourne came from behind to beat a confident looking Souths side who came into this on the back of five wins.

To me, Melbourne looked more purposeful, bigger, stronger, more composed than Souths. They absorbed Souths energy and in the end , Souths were that bit slower, that bit weaker as the game progressed. Perhaps in the end it was fitness and stamina that counted. For Souths, Burgess put in a huge shift but I felt that was not fully capitalised on by the team

Commentary team didn't see the send off coming, thought it would just be put on report.

Crowd here today 5,000 making a lot of noise.

Staggered at the commentary team . What are they on about ? That was assault . He’s standing there after the whistle and Townsend jumps and totally flattens him with a shoulder charge . No mitigation no excuse that was despicable . The spear tackle in the first half was at least a sin bin to

Leilua's flick-on pass is one of those things that goes wrong as often as it works. And Nofoaluma's run opened up the defence beautifully.

Looks like Taufua's out for the season, which is another big blow for Manly.

Just now, Graham said:

My Nofoaluma (SuperCoach) is doing well for me 😀 Two tries already and there’s still the second half to play!

Even when Wests are doing badly, he usually gets on the scoreboard at least once. A bit like Anthony Don for the Titans.

Mbye takes a delayed pass from Grant to score a very nice try indeed.

Bit of a see-saw, this match. Nofoaluma's got his hat-trick.
