Indeed good luck to him. He always seemed to try, but to me he never seemed much of a threat with ball in hand for a big winger. Seldom broke the line and he doesn’t really have a step. But then we’re hardly the greatest team at creating space for wingers. Him and Dixon didn’t get much quality ball last year thanks to our turgid game plan. Let’s hope this season is different.

The lack of regular, fit half backs had a lot to do with the wingers not seeing much good ball last season.

Well let’s see if new half backs make a difference or if we still execute  that scintillating strategy of five drives and an aimless kick that served us so well last year.

If the replacement halfback we got to replace Morgan Smith had been any good than we'd have probably been OK and the style of play would have been a bit more exciting. Unfortunately he was out of his depth in attack in most games and couldn't defend so we ended up with someone kicking aimlessly after 5 drives (or even 3 on occasions when he just fancied it).

When we had at least one decent & fit halfback on the pitch it was a totally different story, see Widnes & Swinton at home in the cup as an example.

Our game plan served us ok for a few seasons before the last one so I don't think your comments about the game plan hold much water.
