Up, Breakfast done, and Ready for the trip to Keighley.

Under no illusions, this will be a massive task for the Hornets.

Keighley have class throughout the ranks. A win would be amazing. come you Nets

Well....😡!  Following online, I felt for the faithful having to watch the implosion from a 10-4 Hornet lead and 16-16 after 57mins leading to the 40-16 final loss.  Of course, the two Hornets players sin-binned in that 15 min period will be gutted too, the coaches no doubt - livid.

Changing a winning integrated team for 2 games?  Personally, I thought having three new signings (none of them sin-binned,) without any previous Hornets full match integration, at very least a huge risk, especially against Keighley and the high stakes.  I hope they proved me wrong?

The Donny home match now takes on even more importance, as do the others, if we are to keep in the top 4 mix.

That game was heading to be a classic until the ref started listening to the voices in his head.  An afternoon’s entertainment ruined. Who wants to see 13 play 11 ? The worst display of refereeing I’ve seen for a long, long while. I seriously worry about the future of our game if lads like today’s official is the best we can do. He probably knows the rule book back to front but has absolutely no common sense. He’s another one who thinks the game is just about him.

As to the rugby it was anybodies game as long as it was 13v13. Playing up hill with only 11 in the second half told in the end.  Everybody put in a shift. Joe Tiara limped off with with what looked like a knee injury. l thought Rangi  was quiet when we needed him to have a stormer. Wes Rogers lad, Fenton, played well. Penki never gave up. My man of the match - Tyrer on the wing, he never put a foot wrong.

Do I not want to see that ref again !

Ref was  not good but credit to Keighley, when the ref (&Hornets) handed them the advantage, they dispatched us clinically. Agree Tyrer was superb. Its worrying that the team loses all shape when Penky goes off ! Loads of effort and I thought at half time that the win was on if we weathered what was sure to be a strong start by Keighley. Lots of lessons to be learned !

And one of the rfl “elite” section!

And nearly 1900 to see him!

Just a little easier with two extra players!

Downhill with all the ball. It could have gone either way with 13 apiece.

Discipline was the teams downfall last season, I see nothing has changed, the 3 ringers didn't have much influence either.

They didn't have two extra players. We had two less than we should have 😒

After a period of defying gravity they’re back being the club we used to call “ The White Mice “ back in the day when they played in white.

Back to the rugby league, according to todays RL express the penalty count was 12-4 in Keighley’s favour. Yesterday’s guy didn’t even bother to try and even it up like most refs do.

16-16 it was getting tasty and interesting when Mr Rush decided to make it all about him. As you say they normally at least try and even things up.

I'm a Keighley supporter and was at the game. I thought the Hornets were a very worthy opponent. They were fast around the ruck, especially in the first half, and some of their defence was very impressive. There are many opinions about Rangi Chase but what a rugby brain he has, such a tricky player. The referee did seem to give us quite a bit but we certainly took advantage and made the most of it during the second half while the Hornets lads were in the bin. It was an enjoyable game, a credit to League One. Good crowd too, boosted by a good following from Rochdale.

It would have been a cracker if it had have stayed at 13 v 13.

Yes I think both cards were harsh particularly  Ben Killan (tbh I didn't see what happened with Brearley)

Still enjoyed most of the day 😒

Yeah I enjoyed the day as well Joe. It’s always a nice run out to Keighley.  I think Brearley said something to the ref after he’d pinged us for offside again. That was right after he penalised a Hornets player for a high tackle when Agoro slipped and fell over  at our players feet.  He was going to tackle him normally but couldn’t avoid going a bit higher. His fall made it into a high tackle, there was no intent.  Nobody was hurt. The Keighley fans around me thought that was harsh. It was a complete accident and the ref should have been aware of that. I think Brearley got frustrated that the ref was pinging us for everything at that point in the game.

Killen’s was a slight high shot. Again nobody hurt. Some get cards and some don’t. We appear to be heading down the football road were every incident, however minor, demands a card.

It appears that yesterday’s young ref (and many refs in general) need to take a leaf from former Welsh ref Nigel Owens (Union, I know!).  Firm and fair with explanation and sometimes humour, trying to keep the match alive for all spectators.

12-4 penalty count and two of Hornets 4 where in the last five minutes. There is passion in this Hornets side and when the ref is hammering one team I can understand the frustration. Worrincy played really well . N.Wales play Keighley in a fortnight that should be a cracker .

Having seen both teams play recently my money would be on Keighley.

You’ve got to use your common sense at times. Yesterday’s guy didn’t have any.
