why dont we show schoolkids the potential of starting off playing the sport at that level with the chance of been a superstar in Australia?- they have no chance of playing for man city or liverpool etc anymore with all the foreign players in football but could be huge on a different platform from humble beginnings just like the burgess bros from Dewsbury moor - at the very least they may end up very good SL players

I've been involved in youth American football and I can tell you that the possibility of a US college scholarship, let alone the NFL, is a huge driver of sporty kids getting involved with the sport. Kids with promise are usually potentially good at lots of sports, so it's competitive, but now we have numerous examples of British kids getting scholarships it's snowballing, even though almost none of them will make it as pros.

The NRL does lots of bad things around international rugby, but as the most successful rugby competition on the planet it should be something we trumpet a lot more here.
