Match Thread Round 21

Recommended Posts

Corey Parker lambasting Ricky Stuart for his comments on the Salmon kick. Raiders coach Ricky Stuart had a verbal go in his post match comments at Penrith's replacement five-eighth Jaeman Salmon after an ugly incident in the second half.

Salmon's boots twice contacted Starling. The first time he kicked out and got him between the legs, the second time he caught Starling on the head again with his boot.

Parker and Cronk are aiming their crticism at Stuart much more than any criticism of the foul play.

Salmon was put on report for the nasty looking incident and a penalty was given against him.

Their view:

Stuart shouldn't single out an opposition player and critise him as he did.

Here's the words they are talking about:

Quote

Stuart did not mince words in describing his thoughts about Salmon's actions.

"I've had history with that kid," Stuart said. "I know that kid very well. He was a weak gutted dog as a kid and he hasn't changed now.

"He's a weak gutted dog person now."

Dogs v Cowboys
Canterbury Bulldogs made it back-to-back successes thanks to their win over Newcastle Knights last week with interim boss Mick Potter now overseeing four wins in his side’s last six games.
Their good record will come under threat here as they host an impressive North Queensland Cowboys outfit who are starting this game with just one loss to their name in their last seven outings.
They were far too good for St. George Illawarra Dragons last time out and while the Bulldogs will be game here, the quality of the Cowboys should ensure they end up winning..

Tigers v Knights

After their controversial loss to North Queensland Cowboys, Wests Tigers were able to use that defeat to their advantage as they produced arguably their best display of the season to see off Brisbane Broncos last week.

Wests ended their seven-game losing streak by comfortably getting the better of a Broncos side chasing a spot in the top four which that success seeing them climb off the foot of the ladder. They will look to build on that against fellow strugglers Newcastle Knights who arrive with what appears to be plenty of unrest within the club having suffered a fourth straight loss last time out.

The Knights were poor once again as they went down to Canterbury Bulldogs and they look like losing this one, don’t they?

Dogs led most of the fur staff 10-0 until about the 30th minute when Cows made 3 interchanges and Cows scored 2 tries. There was a strong wind behind the Dogs - Burton kicked a 70m line dropout - so I don't think they cashed in enough. Cows will now be able to kick their way downfield.

64min: Leilua scores. Bunker might check double movement. He was on his back then reached over to ground it. There was momentum and rolling over. Bunker says no worries.

Holmes goal

Cows 18 - 14
