Elite 1 Round 10

Recommended Posts

Thought it was a decent game at Toulouse. With both sides having something to dwell on.  50 points for TO was nearly the same as Carcassonne got recentley against Villeneuve. It's a long time since they're done that. The geen/whites have a couple of  decent players in no.6 Masima who got a couple of tries and second rower Moannanu ran strongly through out.

Toulouse moved up a place but it would take a mighty jump to reach in the top 6. It looks very much even now to see anybody outside the present six. The Aude 3 locked up already.

Interesting this weekend to finally see the Miloudi brothers playing at last. Hakim at last in the orange and black of Albi and Amine at Avignon. The Tarn side ran wasn't the only to make fifty in R 10 giving a hammering to at St Gaudens - party because of the loss of centre Minga early on. The younger Miloudi's side gave comptition leaders Carcassonne a tough game. 12-12 at the break and weren't far at the end.

Limoux the third Aude team to win and broke the home records of Pia in another feasty tousle in Salanque in front of a crowd of 1,700. The four tries all in the first- half. The Grizzlis ground it out with just three penalties after the break. Pia, Avignon and Albi the best bet maybe come Spring time for the Six.

Yeah, I would agree with that. I also think Depyere has potential, he looks to have some pace. Sangare will take time to develop but he has the size, he's enormous, even bigger than Justin.

Toulouse have a lot of raw talent that just needs to be given a shot in the 1st team and not dropped and binned if they have a poor game or run of games.

But it's obviously tricky to play youngsters when we've had a system of jeopardy in recent years

Brochon got a mention in the team of the week. He might be needed if TO need a half come the middle of the season

It's great the younger Toulouse and xiii Catalan players are training with the first teams, but it weakens the elite comp for 7 weeks as the 6 Catalan lads will just train with the first team and not play in elite until pre season is finished, which weakens further 2 already quite weak teams, yes the players may improve during this time, but the season will be  almost finished when they come back to elite 1 and both teams may not make the elite 1 play offs,

Whats your feeling on a proposal that each SL club has an adopted French team (8 outside of the Dragons/Toulouse) and takes 2 players from that club into their squad from May (After the Championship Final) June/July/August.

Thats means an extra 16 French players exposed to SL systems.

The 6 reserve lads all played at Wigan in the SL last season late on. See yesterday 30 players were there for the first time Think I saw the reserve coach Eamon O'Carroll there as  well as the new bloke Neil Mcllroy who is having a say across all the teams. Be interesting to to see how it all works out. All the thirty players will be going to Spain in February. Gerone location at the Hotel Torremirona for a week. McNamara putting a lot on the stay because of the late start-up.

Good idea, but complicated with work commitments, a lot of the players give up on making a living from rugby at around 22 as they realise they can make more playing elite and a full time job, plus the visa process is complicated to stay longer than a month as they need to earn over a certain amount with the club they play for,

My  16 year old son is looking to go over for summer to play, lots of his mates are keen too but it's complicated to find a club willing to lodge the players etc, luckily my son will be able to stay with family and now as a British passport.

They want to keep the France u17s from this season in top level training etc but it's too complicated, the excellent u17s  scrum half from salon is playing first team  elite 2 with salon at only  17, but that's the highest he'll get without moving, the lock is playing elite 2 with Carpentras, only the 3 or 4 from the French team are now at the xiii Catalan u19s team and 2 at Toulouse u19s, the rest with their respective clubs, these are the players that need taking to England in the super League set up, but then again this takes a chance away from an home grown player playing academy or first team to improve a french national player, England RL won't get anything from this effort by super League clubs if it ever happened,

A great idea could be a France academy, with players from all over France playing in the UK academy league and reserve league funded by Catalan, Toulouse and the French federation, the cream can go to the pro clubs the rest drop back to elite,  but this will never happen,

He will be back with the Elites for a few more games then he is with the main team from the start of the season.
