Good to listen on BBC sport, despite our 12-52 loss to Halifax. Our efforts overall and the two quick second-half tries gave Hornet followers much to cheer about.

Hopefully the second half injuries can be overcome ready for next week's home Challenge cup tie.Β Β

Any idea on the attendance?Β

Worrying...North Wales...Doncaster Oldham Hunslet...have performed better against Championship opposition.Β

Not quite sure I'm following your logic.

Firstly Doncaster are a Championship side.

Secondly Halifax are a top four Championship side with genuine quality, the likes of Gareth Widdop, Ben Crookes, Greg Eden etc.

Granted Oldham beat them but Oldham are spending way above anyone in League One and are the overwhelming favourites to walk the division having recruited from Super League and top end of Championship. On that basis I'm not sure we should be measuring ourselves on what Oldham do or don't do.

North Wales have been beaten by Barrow away in a friendly and soundly beaten by Swinton at home in the 1895.

Don think you can read a great deal into pre season results but if we are doing then Barrow have beaten the three League 1 sides you name and you cant really look at score lines with any context without understanding the thought process of each coach for each game and the personnel used by both teams on each given day, weather conditions each day and other relevant factors. After all is said and done they are called trail games for a reason.

The club has been very clear about its processes, recruitment and aims and as far as I understand it is to improve this year on field and target a play off / top four spot.

For significant parts of yesterdays game we matched and troubled a Halifax team that will be top 3/4 in Championship and won the 1895Β  cup at Wembley last year. Huge disparity in playing budget and levels but our attitude and effort was very pleasing throughout. Signs that our pack will be strong and two good half backs in Else and Ridyard.

Midlands who have recruited well under the ex Bradford coach Mark Dunning will be a tough test, roll on Sunday.

PS great atmosphere and feel good factor upstairs yesterday pre and post match. We seem to be doing far more right than we are doing wrong under this management.

Early days and our Championship opponents would be determined after their loss to Oldham. Β  Hopefully we shall utilise this experience well, starting Sunday and in preparation for our two games with the neighbours. Β  Certainly from the link above, defence will be high on the menu - of course it’s much easier in front of a screen!

I think we also have to factor in that the squad have only had one preseason game due to the weather. Match fitness is a great asset and there’s only one way to get that?

RUGBY LEAGUE WITHOUT ROCHDALE HORNETS IS LIKE AN UNSHARPENED PENCIL, THERES NO POINT?
