34min: Sloan try.

Lomax kick went in some completely random direction. At least he missed the ocean.

HT:  St George  14  Manly  6

Both sides will be unhappy with their performance in that half. Manly just looked confused on some attacking plays and couldn't even remember the most basic, "run hard and straight."

62min: Jaxson Paulo almost grounded it, diving over Ravalawa but bunker will chalk it off for knock on.

then St George travel the length of the field on the next set and Sloan scores off a Hunt banana kick

Manly dummy half loses grip on ball. Subsequent scrum and St George drop the ball in the first tackle.

The fairest result might be for both teams to lose.

DCE throw a pass into touch but Manly get a "inside 10m" penalty so Aloiai drops it on first play of penalty.

The only good thing I can say about this game is that I had $2 on St George

The knockonathon at the 'Gong or proof that when two teams play clunky football the team that is the least clunky wins.

Manly scored first and at that point you exorcted the match to play out as anticipated but Manly were Absolute Pants while they gained a lot of yardage the end product was a collection of knock ons, firing the ball into touch or simply dropping the ball once getting a repeat set.

Not that SGI were any better attacking wise but they at least had the nous to convert some of that pressure into points.

The turning point in the game came early in the second half when Manly 14-6 behind at the break got about four repeat sets in the SGI 20 metre line and failed to come away with any points.

Flanno can cone away with some satisfaction over the defensive shift but I will reserve judgement until they play better opposition.

As for Manly up next at 4 pines is the Penny Panthers.....

Attendance 16215 and the hill was rammed with the PA calling for standing room only.

Why do these commentators keep saying "the original Qld derby?" Gold Coast, anyone?

Because they are ignorant….the original queensland derby was broncos v crushers. If brisbane v cowboys is a derby then should warsaw ever have a team in superleague their game at Wigan would qualify as a derby! The Cowboys game is the third longest trip in the NRL for the Broncos….only melbourne and auckland are further.

Port Moresby is closer to townsville than brisbane is.

Michael Ennis is the worst…he even calls it a local derby. Mind you, he is from Coffs Harbour!

More Hasler-ball. We didnt even get the consolation of the free burger ( when titans score 19 points or more…..thats in a single game…..not the entire season).

They have started looking for a space in the trophy cabinet for a large wooden kitchen utensil.
