womensrl.com

This is a new women's rugby league website run by Jason Emery and myself which will bring you an abundance of news, interviews, opinion, tactical analysis and nostalgia!

We'll be launching it properly next week with a countdown of the best 50 British players in the game today.

In the meantime, I've uploaded interviews with Julie Burgess, Lisa McIntosh and Gemma Walsh.

I'd love to see more of the lower leagues featured from Championship down but saying that I find the RFL womens section really cumbersome and really tough to navigate so I would imagine if you can keep updated league tables on your website then that could generate quite decent traffic.

I love the idea of tactical analysis, maybe interviews with coaches going through videos a little like Jon Wells does on SKY would be very cool.

Looking forward to seeing the 50

Had a sneaky bet with a current Leeds player if she’s in the list 😎😎

I joined up too, looking forward to the top 50 list.

Thank you. Curious to know who the player is but don’t tell me yet!  If you can send a few people in the direction of the website and the Facebook group, that would be great.

Not much coverage of Saints v Leeds anywhere.

Haven't seen the game. Did notice this on the Leeds Twitter page -

"Saints had possession 20 metres out but Paige Travis kicks out at Sykes in the tackle so Leeds receive a penalty"

That's not like Paige. Normally so level-headed.:kolobok_girl_wacko:

Here's some Saints-Leeds analysis (and a nostalgic reflection on Knowsley Road's catering facilities!) - https://womensrl.com/?p=83

And here's a York transfer scoop and news on their mounting injury crisis: https://womensrl.com/?p=81

Leanne Burnell was outstanding against the Army on Saturday.

Army 34 Cardiff 38

Tangentially-related grumble -

There was a bloke shouting his head off from the side-line. Guessing the Army coach. Nothing wrong with encouraging your own players, but is anyone inspired by cries of "Forward" at Cardiff passes? Wish these blokes would leave behind the garbage picked up from men's RL when they get involved in the women's game. We want a more congenial welcoming atmosphere.

No touch judges for this fixture. Had there been, he/she would have copped an earful. Not a pleasant experience.

I watched a bit of that game and hope to watch it back again in full.

Burnell is outstanding, she would be a great signing for any of the northern clubs.

Ha no sorry

if she wasn’t in the first 20 I don’t think she’ll make the top 30

"they're pretty much in the order we'd want to sign them if we were creating a new team and had copious amounts of cash"

Jumping the gun, having not yet seen the whole 50, and governed by the above criterion, I'd have Isabel Rowe a lot higher than 41.

Worth debating whether WSL should adopt NRLW rules, i.e. 35-minute halves, 40-30 kicks, no set restarts.

My view is, yes. Especially 40-30 kicks.

(Punctilious fact of the day - NRLW rules also include 20-50 kicks. I actually saw one. Kirra Dibb Warriors v Broncos 2020. Commentators were naturally nonplussed)
