Id heard that both Hull teams having been struggling to put a team on the pitch but that is a shocker. Not heard where the players have gone or if its just injuries though. It might just give Cas a fighting chance of staying up though but whoever comes up you feel will add to that Championship as League 1 looks a great competition and even though Widnes are low down the league they may be dark horses having just beaten Illingworth in the cup semi final followed by Thatto in the final.

Why Hull don't just have one team, when there isn't enough talent for two, is beyond me. Shared between both foundations?

Yeah its a fair point, I dont know much about the junior teams over there but I can't imagine there are a lot of options which must make the player pool for both teams pretty small.

Random post.

Been watching a recently-posted YouTube video of Henderson Gill's short spell at South Sydney in 1985.

A female pitch-side commentator features in a couple of the clips. Must have been something of a trailblazer in her day. Would presume the coverage was from Channel Ten.

I don't know what that woman's name was on Channel 10. Debbie Spillane was the first woman to do TV coverage of RL in OZ, on the ABC games probably in about 1984. Henderson Gill was at Souths in 1985.

Pretty certain this isn't her.

Interesting to read about Debbie Spillane though. Probably more deserving of trailblazer status.

Inspired by the Leah Burke injury anniversary thread, thought it might be worth a mention that Sharks fullback Jada Taylor is out for the rest of the NRLW season with an ACL tear. This after being out for much of last year with ankle and shoulder problems.

She's one of these players who just looks fragile, particularly prone to leg injuries. I'd put Ruby Enright in the same category. Seems to hobble away from the ruck on a regular basis, even when it's nothing serious.

I expected Ruby Enright to kick on this season but it hasn’t really happened.

As you said she’s had a couple of injuries and has been in and out of the team, mostly out.

In her absence though Evie Cousins gets to play in her natural full back position and has done really well.

The fullback to keep an eye out for though is Ebony Stead, Leeds have a potential superstar there.

The under-19s highlights I've seen have an air of junior League. Ebony given the ball and carving up wholesale.

Seen evidence of a more well-rounded game in first-grade. Good option at centre maybe. Just physically, as an athlete, looks very impressive.

A Warrington Girls Community post this week depicted 8 of their 14s and 15s players signing contracts with Warrington Wolves.

Seems a bit young, although I recall Jesse Southwell signing a contract with Newcastle Knights aged 14.

Evidence perhaps of a plan to emulate Wigan Academy? There's certainly no sign at present of Wire taking the York route to WSL success.

York U19's comfortably beating Leeds U19's last night, could possibly be the last game for them although I know Huddersfield have a game this Sunday. Most teams just going through the motions at this point as they plan to release the girls in their last year of the 19's.  Interested to see how bad Dewsbury, Oulton, and Stanningly get hit next season with the 19's move to Sunday. I know in an ideal world the RFL would rather have teams linked to a pro team in the Championship rather than community clubs.

Good win for York that - 2 tries from Evie Sexton, and tries from Abbie Millward, Lauren Exley, and Tleesha Frederick-Maynard, who also scored 4 goals. York had a strong side out, with French international Mahault Pommier in the halves and Izzy Brennan at loose forward.

I see Huddesfield have announced the cancellation of their last U19s fixture against Wigan, which was due to take place on Sunday. So not even going though the motions......

Apparently Wigan could not raise a team but I am hearing one or two different stories as well.

Also hearing that Wakefield have stopped their Ladies team from playing at the stadium. Its a kick in the teeth for them especially with their likely relegation from League 1. Not really been a good year for any of Fev, Cas, Or Wakey with a real posibility all 3 will be relegated barring another league shake up.

They've just kicked out the football team as well. Not a good look for the club when they obviously don't support the women's team that much.

Seems strange if Wigan u19 can’t raise a team, they have loads of players.

That win for York Valkyrie v Leeds is a great result for them, shame it wasn’t on any platforms to see.

York seemed better prepared today after the mini season break. Forwards were notably bigger and it showed

I heard York did an extra training session Friday night.

Saints to finish top then it’s anyone’s guess where the other 3 will finish

Great crowd today
