  1. Hull KR - I once won a shirt in the raffle in the early 90s, or whenever they moved to the new ground. So, I’ve always had a soft spot for them. Whitehaven - For absolutely no reason whatsoever, one of my all time favourite players was Norman Lofthouse. As a kid I always thought he was bald because of Sellafield melting his hair or something. Halifax - Because I loved their kit in the eighties. Apparently standard blue and white hoops thrilled me. Oldham - Well I did when they were at Watersheddings, which is my all time favourite ground. I must be the only non Oldham fan that liked going there. I mean it was always cold, wet, grey and miserable after all. I did go to the last ever game there against Swinton (I think). I think it was even sunny that day.
  2. Huddersfield is literally the birthplace of rugby league, the 1895 split happened at the George Hotel in the town. That alone makes the club part of the game’s foundation. They also bring a solid academy that develops British players, strong Yorkshire rivalries with clubs like Leeds, Bradford and Wakefield, and they’re usually competitive enough to challenge bigger teams on their day. They’ve had a couple of bad seasons, but they’re one of the most successful clubs historically. Plus the club has long-term stability through Ken Davy’s investment, which keeps another historic heartland club in the league. They haven’t been bankrupt, and they have ambition to build a new ground that will be better suited to their loyal fanbase. The football ground is way too big for them, there is no disputing that, but I think Huddersfield will offer a lot to Super League in a year or two. With a new ground, and the club achieving the goals that Davy has set, the support will grow. Playing in a Soulless football ground that is too big for them isn’t just an Huddersfield thing, and with a new ground things will take off. I feel Widnes can feel hard done by by never being considered for the top table, they got their new ground to appease whichever new super re-imagined scheme the RFL came up with, but certain clubs who play in crumbling grounds always get in before them.
  3. I like it. The old one looked Chelsea.
  4. Having worked with the RFL before, I’d invest in non-league football.
  5. That is the worst Huddersfield kit I have ever seen. In fact, it’s possibly the worst kit I’ve ever seen. I’m surprised really because I think Oxen have done some great kits. It’s like the designers have run out of ideas, or they had to get out of the door to go for a night out.
  6. A new ground for Fartown would be a huge step in the right direction. It would be a great legacy for Ken Davy, and it would increase attendance for the club. Going to rattle around in the Smith’s is not inspiring for players or supporters, and isn’t conducive to attracting new supporters. Okay, I know the Mend a Hole at Cas is in need of upgrades, but 8,000 people in a 12,000 capacity ground creates a great atmosphere. Same at Warrington, Widnes, Fev.
  7. Told you…
  8. Torquay United hated Truro being there. The pitch was awful. I don't think Plainmoor could fit a full size rugby league pitch. I think Devon Sharks looked into it.
  9. May get me one of those. If we win tonight and Saturday, then I'll still fear the worst football and rugby have taught me 'always expect rock bottom, and the chances of being miserable rapidly decrease'
  10. No, I am taking my daughter up West to watch Frozen the Musical. I can't Let it Go, she'd kill me. 8yo girls are psychopathic...
  11. London bound to watch the Suuupppaaa Hoopssaaa against the Smog. Also hoping Man Citeh beat the Bus Stop in Hounslow.
  12. Non-league football is thriving. I watch (when not at QPR) Clapton CFC (Step 7) who average 350 and Buckland Athletic (Step 5) who must be averaging 250.
