I hear Phil Clarke was his usual insular self last night Hemmings was making excuses for him apparently .

Eddie assured the viewers that the commentators were 100% neutral.

#2965090 best game you ever saw

Already stated the best game I've seen from a rugby point of view but on a personal level,Leeds v Manly WCC 2012.Seeing my son walk onto the field with Jamie Lyon, brought a tear to my eyes.

East Leeds.
As for sprinklers, pointless suggesting them at one of the clubs, they train and play on a 3g pitch!

#2964261 smoking at stadiums

Posted by terrywebbisgod on 23 July 2014 - 06:43 PM

Cant say i disagree. Again as a smoker I believe that as long as theres a designated space away from where the majority of fans are then theres no harm done apart from the folk inflicting it on themselves.

This.

people: bar staff and stewards not doing their job properly.

there is no responsible consumption of tobacco. My original post was about tobacco consumption i.e. smoking. Others have quite reasonably broadened the discussion.

I only drink alcohol at games if it is worth drinking, which is rarely. If alcohol either the kind I like or the kind I don't was unavailable it would be perfectly acceptable to me.

yes and I enjoy it
I dont abuse it and if it wasn't available I would still enjoy my afternoon at the rugby.

So you can enjoy a pint, yet you would deny people who enjoy smoking. If people want to smoke at grounds and they can,let them. Each to their own. They know the danger yet still smoke.Let them.Just as you enjoy a pint. This isn't about irresponsible use of any substance.Right, now time for a pint of Old Dirigable and a smoke of my pipe, toodle pip.

Can people live without a pint for a few hours, alcohol is hardly part of a healthy lifestyle.Yet that is sold at grounds.

The idea for me is that the players can get used to falling safely using correct technique and gradually get used to th knocks/hits then remove the padding away as the tackling techniques are correct. My money would be on the team that wears all the padding in the initial stages to have more confidence in their tackles and beat a similar kind of team that started with no padding at all.

As you get older, the kids will be heavier and more prone to heavier tackles but you will know that they have the techniques correct to keep injuries to a mimumum.

In my kids team, there are always a couple of kids that have picked up wrist, leg or ankle injuries that halt/slow down their learning and knocks their confident in tackles that I'm sure could have been avoided if padding had been used initially.

Injuries are part of any contact sport, wearing padded suits wouldn't lessen wrist or ankle injuries.

Mate it's just blokes riding bikes

You could say Rugby League is just blokes throwing a ball around.Yet we all know it's much more than that. It's more than just blokes riding bikes.Try watching "A Sunday in Hell".

#2963332 The Sun report 3 game ban for Sinfield

Posted by terrywebbisgod on 22 July 2014 - 07:46 AM

We should let the RFL make their judgements on a case-by-case basis in the best interest of each player. We are dealing with human beings being disciplined - we are not issuing out parking fines to anyone who commits for the same parking offence. Correct?

Which is what the RFL do.

#2963004 17/07/14 - Leeds Rhinos v Castleford Tigers KO 8pm (TV)

Posted by terrywebbisgod on 21 July 2014 - 03:21 PM

With Amatuers we're just talking about a £100 fine at most presumably. Thats not going to knock the socks of anybody though - lol.

It's enough for most amateur clubs!Yet it doesn't act as a deterrent.
