I’ve just walked along the canal from Copley to Sowerby Bridge and back, lovely sunny day, BUT….
I was passed by at least 12 cyclists approaching from behind (caveat, I’m a cyclist myself) but not a single one felt it appropriate or necessary to ring a bell or shout a warning, and then cyclists adopt a persecution complex because “no one loves us”
Adhere to your responsibilities on the towpath, pedestrians have right of way, cyclists must ring a bell or shout a warning, particularly when approaching from behind and keep left
Do this and you might get a bit of respect in return
