  1. It was basically 85 minutes of Turkish attack v Australian defence - the opposite of Gallipoli. Never seen so many instances where a defender threw themselves in front of an attacking player to block shots. Hard to believe that an attack consisting of a Norwich City and Watford player could win a WC game.
  2. GET IN!!!!! Melbourne City, AK Grazer, Parma, Leicester City, Swansea, Feyenoord, FC St Pauli, New York City, Sydney FC and Watford - 2 Galatasaray, AS Roma, Al Ahli, Galatasaray, Brighton, Fenerbahce, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Benfica, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce - 0
  3. Totally agree. Just watched it over the last two nights.
  4. A shock to see the news on Facebook. A good Cas lad who was a great servant at the club and to the game in general. Favourite memory of John is the try he scored in our Premiership Final defeat against Hull KR. The game will miss him.
  5. Cracking try! But I have seen Cas snatch defeat from the jaws of victory too many times.
  6. Yep, obviously I am watching it on Fox Sports and the picture and commentary is fine.
  7. That was my immediate reaction. You could see that Valemei was concerned as soon as Stephens hit the floor and IMHO it looked like he was trying to put him in a more comfortable position. But he shouldn't have touched him. But that brings up another question. If a player is knocked out - which I not in any way suggesting Stephens was - does an opposing player near him just walk away and not show concern especially if the incident is 40/50 yards and possibly 10-15 seconds sprint from the teams bench?
  8. My brother, living in Cas, went to the Tottenham game. He commented on Facebook 'Fantastic stadium a lot better than Wembley'.
  9. After seeing just the title thread I thought bl00dy hell Cas have signed him as a back up full back.
  10. Useful feedback for the game as a whole ........ what does that mean? I.e. if one ref misses a forward pass then how can the game make sure that no other ref misses a forward pass? When SKY brought in umpteen cameras it let the genie out of the bottle. From 8 camera angles the refs decision is deemed correct but from the ninth camera the decision is obviously wrong. Therefore the ref gets hammered by commentators, fans, social media etc. But, if you want to propose a panel to view mistakes and make a judgement then I hear that the Spanish Inquisition have some time on their hands so they might be up for a gig! At the age of 62 I could ref a Premier League match which is basically a non-contact, five-a-side game played on a large pitch. In rugby league I would still be trying to fathom out if anything untoward occurred in the first set of six by the time we got to the tenth minute. Obviously I have seen many bad decisions, but I am one of those people that accept that errors are made and that no red ever makes a bad decisions on purpose. Corvus, if you are still working, why not suggest this at your place of work. I'm sure you're colleagues would appreciate it.
  11. In response to the thread title I would say ...... Les Quirk, good winger for St Helens.
  12. Charlie. I should have added that when I stated 'some' clubs I was referring to the clubs attracting 4/500 supporters. If that club can spend its income on 12-14 players instead of 20-22 players then it may attract better players. Add in SL fringe players and you still have a team that has its own identity. I am not talking about some form of full takeover. If some form of relationship between an SL club and a Championship club is agreed it should include off field support to enable the Championship club to increase its visibility to local people and to piggy back on shared initiatives. The alternative is that some of these clubs may disappear.
  13. Just got round to watching the Love Rugby League podcast and IMHO the presenters had a fair discussion about the pros and cons of the suggested idea. One point that did stick out tor me was the realisation that there are 400 plus full-time/part time players across the Championship. In an ideal world we all would want this to continue. But is this sustainable for every club in the Championship? If such an arrangement, even just for a few years, can assist in bringing financial stability to SOME clubs and providing them with basis upon which to grow - and possible future investment - then surely that is for the betterment of the game.
  14. I remember back in the 1980's when Real Madrid beat their own reserve team in the Spanish Cup Final.
