  1. “Legendary”
  2. Not saying you’re right or wrong either way in Wakey’s particular case, but what I can tell you is there is absolutely zero legal requirement in terms of ‘announced’ attendances. Clubs can literally announce the crowd as whatever you like (and they do). The actual, physical attendance is of course recorded as part of safety officer reports for each match (and submitted to local area SAGs and RLGSOA) but you would need to submit a freedom of information request to your local council.
  3. Wonder if there’s a school of thought in building a new terrace at the south end (nominally the away end as a result, I expect) and taking advantage of the reduced space on the western side and re-creating the Benidorm end along that side with a naturally increased number of hospitality boxes, maybe a ground floor pitch-length bar facility or something those lines. All planning dependent, of course. Or they could always build a snooker club along that side
  4. Btw from a playing point of view (in my dim and distant past), having broken and solid lines was way more helpful than trying to squint to see a number painted on the touchline 30m away. I’d say similar from a spectator and even TV point of view too as you can see exactly where the play is without having to look elsewhere (or not having that opportunity at all when the camera is zoomed in)
  5. If anyone notices the differences then that means they’ve watched more than one game and means we have ’got’ them anyway, based on the old “we only need people to see one game” adage.
  6. The pitch markings moans will never stop being weird. And they clearly don’t recall when an offside decision at Old Trafford was analysed on Match of the Day in relation to the post-Grand Final markings.
  7. They quote ‘two for the price of one’, but that’s not the case surely if it’s an extra tenner? Not something I’ve ever seen other than the England football kit 2001ish that was reversible with a training top that would give Sports Direct (or, god forbid, the RFL) a run for their money in their quest for the tackiest ‘flag replaces emblem’.
  8. Amazed I’ve got the dubious privilege of sharing this. Can only assume I’m the first one to pick themselves up off the floor. Couldn’t have picked three worse examples of ‘illegal’ tackles if they tried. Given the farcical nature of the academy trials last year, I’d love to know how bad it would have needed to be to be considered a failure!
  9. Think you’re reading in to it a bit too much there
  10. That’s down to one mon and nowt else
  11. They tried that in 2010ish and made an absolute Horlicks of it in a similar vein to the expanded World Club Challenge the other year
  12. What a weird take from that article.
  13. Only when his next fever dream comes around
  14. Wasn’t the £5k from Co-Op as part of their sponsorship and was used for donating family tickets?
  15. If memory serves me right I do know of one person who drove, but he lives near London so that’s cheating. Thankfully it meant he could give a lift back to my mate who had flown to Morocco a couple of days before the ash cloud with the intention of meeting us in Carcassonne being moving on to Limoux. Lucky he was able to fly in to Carcassonne before they’d banned flights as far north as that
  16. The Russians entered on enough occasions that Leigh not only twice played Lokomotiv Moscow - once at Hilton Park, once at LSV - but also played Strela Kazan (in the snow, ironically enough) Leigh also played Toulouse away and probably most memorably had to defeat the Icelandic ash cloud and drive down to Limoux. Don’t think I’d missed a game home or away in 3 or 4 years before that one
  17. Better than you’d think (and you know it’s something when that’s coming from a Leyther!) Swan & Railway opposite the station is recommended by some friends who support Halifax who stayed there for the England v PNG game, plus the added bonus that it is run by a Leigh-supporting couple Alternatively it’s a doddle to stay in Manchester or Liverpool instead
  18. Surely it absolutely lends to making a weekend of it?! Very tempted to head to the game given the kick off is perfect for when we’ll be travelling via Wigan anyway coming back from the Blackpool v Bolton match that afternoon.
  19. Amazed the pitch markings police haven’t turned up yet
  20. Rewards4RugbyLeague pay the RFL the value of the vouchers used. They have a similar arrangement with various county cricket clubs.
  21. They will have to open it purely on the basis that so many tickets will be sold for each day via the various clubs. Might even sell out. But fewer fans than ever before will stick around to watch any games other than their own teams.
  22. Sounds as though they shifted the date without checking stadium availability first (see also 2022 Challenge Cup Final)
  23. Exactly what happened to the Northern Rail Cup and Summer Bash so hardly far fetched. Elland Road is just an utterly disastrous choice of venue from literally every angle possible. Does the job for an international, but for 6 games over a weekend? I really despair sometimes.
  24. Much earlier than that, Gav. You must be getting on a bit now (I actually went to that Fev v Sheffield game. Not a bad one for a neutral!)
  25. I don’t want to be suggesting anything controversial or reinvent the wheel or anything but, if we’re going to have two groups of teams, has any suggested we group them together based on their on-field ability, maybe using results from the previous season as a barometer?
