  1. The less cash and all games live on TV apply to all teams though. Performance surely is the reason for the drop in crowds. When was the last time Saints needed to win their last game to qualify for post season?
  2. What were both teams thinking….the game was over and both teams move on to play next week so why put yourself at risk of suspension? I suppose thats why they are playing in league 1.
  3. You are assuming London will still be playing at wimbers! Arent they due to move again…it seems to happen every couple of years.
  4. Every club played each other H and A in their own county ( with cumberland clubs being notional counted as Lancashire) and each club had four cross county fixtures according to previous seasons finishing position. This allowed a team like Dewsbury to move up the table and win the championship play off. Even during the days of the play offs being top 4 only, a team like Oldham were able to make the final.
  5. The counter argument, and I am not saying it trumps your position, is that the teams play an unblanced schedule, as opposed to all opponents H and A.
  6. True but before P&R we had one league where every club was able to move up and down based on how well they played. No closed shop. What we are about to have is a situation where how well a team plays will not be sufficient for them to move up in the game.
  7. Maybe from a financial point of view but not in terms of being a competitive team who regularly make, and some years progress in the play offs.
  8. A real nailbiter in front of a record crowd for 1st week of playoffs in NRL era
  9. Since 2020 roosters finished 4,5,6 and 7th. In that time they have only won two play off games, both by a single point. There has been no separation between them and the rest.
  10. There is a worrying gap emerged between Penrith/Melbourne and the rest of the teams in the NRL who regularly knock each other off.
  11. Yes much more competitive than the first two but we really could do with a nailbiter in the final game. AFL had too magnificent contests this weekend, though the melbourne mafia wouldnt like it. More Melbourne teams left in NRL playoffs than in AFL! And even the second tier VFL has Gold Coast based Southport in next weeks final. Expect to hear bleating.
  12. Central funding should be equal per club across the three divisions…..league position, play offs, promotion and championships are the prizes for successful teams not ‘prize money’. Under the current and proposed systems those with most need get least. The sustainability of sports like the NFL are based on equal central funding and player drafts that favour teams at the bottom.
  13. Oh for the days of no central funding and all teams treated equally.
  14. Broncos going nowhere fast looking at signing old men on the downside of their careers.
  15. Went to my first rochdale hornets away game at knotty ash Easter 1967. As much as I remember it was OK, and not out of line with other ‘bottom half’ clubs. Far better than Alt Park which was a dump.
  16. I hope its the London Broncos. I suppose the idea would be for him to fill the hole that Taupau failed to fill.
  17. Won every round by three points margin then lost the semi by 2. No one left those games early!
  18. Saturday 14th rochdale fc at home. As owners of the stadium its unlikelythey will move their game.
  19. Usually accompanied by horizontal sleet.
  20. The winner of canberra v dragons will be left hoping the knights and dolphins draw, unless of course they draw.
  21. Come along to Hornets…we have another month to play!
  22. I think it relates to a large extent to coaching….those three teams have the three best coaches by a country mile. Bennett once was at that level but he is past his sell by date.
  23. Well done…steadily building a solid club progressing nicely. Enjoy the ride!
