  1. Hard to disagree with your comment, nevertheless it is hardly dramatically changing anything with respect to Castleford nor SL/IMG reimagining the sport aim. For sure its something that could have been done but I guess wasn't because their is/wasn't any real business imperative to gain.
  2. To be fair, he's been recovering from shoulder operation and recently a rib injury which is still a problem. On top of he's Leeds only decent prop and has played lots of minutes in games... not surprising he's stale or not performing at the higher level he's shown previously... Leeds need some props...they are physically light... the youngsters at fullback and wing tonight didn't help on the physicality side...
  3. I understand you point and somewhat agree, but and maybe a big but I wonder why I take an interest in NFL and follow a particular team or why many support a football club in the PL from other countries, only ever watching their game on TV. Even why people seem to follow a particular NRL team in the UK. My point being you don't need a national team to hook many into following an interest in a non geographical local team and watching on TV.
  4. Formerly Kirkby Town, they moved and renamed to Knowsley utd. Played against them when Kirkby Town... well before they moved
  5. Interesting... From the greyhound race track they moved to the knotty ash stadium... the race track being in Stanley just down from knotty ash where of course knotty ash stadium is, close to Dovecot where me grandma lived...hence aware of stadium but didn't go to any games. I lived in huyton and did attend alt park games when liverpool City moved and changed names. Alt Park was a dump of ground on first day of opening... named after the river Alt which ran near by...
  6. maybe but one would expect a high number of persons thinking it was unjustified as distinct from those with a bias interest to be controversy. For sure it was an headline from the past week in which a Coach was upset with a decision he thought wrong and was the type of decision that was impacting the sport negatively. Personally I thought it was a correct decision and rightly a number of game bans and is not controversy in applying the rules and thinking of player welfare. Yep, it created a discussion point and it would seem whether a player should ever be sent off in a game.
  7. always seems to be, as I also get diverted via Manchester
  8. is that like the game you play with the kids, freeze when the music stops or when somebody shouts stop, you have to stop in the exact position immediately. I guess it would add a lot more drama and entertainment to watching the game....
  9. yep agreed, except to say I think we will be less and less relevant with respect to being broadly where we are now - that is our level or pecking order will be lower and lower. This with respect to the higher number of Premier League football games available, EFL games new deal, plus other "minor"sports, and not forgetting Comcast may wish to push/leverage more USA sports from their NBC sports. Then again if RL is successful with its IMG reimagined sport then we may hold our own...
  10. Yep Newman would be one to let go... to make cap space.... think leeds need a better pack as a priority and the cap space useful for rebuilding the forward platform Ash testimonial year coming up so that may delay any considerations...
  11. it has been clearly stated he prefers a role in NRL. Taking this one year deal yep he gets wages but it is a double edge sword. If with a full pre-season under him and a chance to bring in new players/release others and Leeds do poorly yet again it won't do his chances of getting a new role in NRL or any gentlemen's agreement he has now won't turn into a contract.
  12. oky doky...thanks for your loca enthusiasm... Now I know it ain't local but loved the Gower peninsula... mind you that was over 50 plus ago. I guess I had enough of Wales all be it Clwyd, spending most summers - namely at Talacre .... the Scouse riviere so to speak.. As an aside me Mam spoke Welsh...especial when telling us off...
  13. nearly 6 hours on the train, two changes and nope don't want to just drink cheap beer... could drive but then that's at least 6hours could fly but then could fly anywhere... apart from the cheap what makes it something I can't miss....
  14. It's as much of a dump as old trafford... but it doesn't stop people going... If people are brought into the magic weekend concept the fact the stadium isn't a super dooper stadium wouldn't be the major attendance stopper
  15. At least some players are recognising the staying down issue... George Williams for one on the Sky The Bench programme... Personally the MRP is the place to determine if action needs taking if the ref doesn't see an issue.... then we should see less staying down unless player is hurt and needs injury attention, although I know it is used to slow momentum of opposition. Not sure what can be done but its an issue on top of others that turn off existing fans which leads to non attendance/watching and ultimately adds to the slow demise of the sport
  16. I guess a downside of getting Sky Monies is the changing days, whatever the reason for this game day on a Saturday. Personally I prefer Friday nights but key for me and many others is going the game is habit forming... and other activities are planned around the regular game day - in Leeds case Friday nights. This year has been particular a pain and hence for our season tickets am awaiting fixture list before committing. If too many no Fridays and knowing often likely for some to move by Sky I won't be renewing. Not that it will impact the club but saves me significant hospitality monies to use elsewhere.
  17. yep, it is... and not just near the touch line, seems to be happening more and more where a player is carried/dragged backwards, although at some stage the players of the player being dragged will join in too... back to square one
  18. it weren't me guv... chuckle... (I was older but maybe no more sensible...) yep it was the seventies, actually opened 1969....
  19. yep... it was a dump when first built, although could always get a drink at the club house.... no matter yer age... chuckle... the bar takings proped up the club
  20. Does the ref review process include the hooker/dummy half as they also ref the game with throwing their arms in the air at every PTB/tackle as they seem to think its not being ref correctly... according to them...
  21. Huyton... split me corn flakes milk reading that... that came out of your distance memory... Having been brought up in Huyton and watched a fair few games me thinks even in jest a slight exaggeration...
  22. funny thing a while ago this season well before the coach leaving Rhyse spoke and no doubt was being positive he said that this season (at the time) was the best start to a season he had known since being at the club... Although he wasn't suggesting anything other than being positive I did think it must have been a poor few years for him at the club despite his own performances .... I thought then given that a good offer and he would be off... particularly how the season has continued plus coach sacking and situation is up in the air and who knows whats happening next season coach wise...
  23. well yep clubs through their off field activities need to have financial sustainable but for sure successful team helps.. for the sport as a whole whilst I agree with IMG approach for longer term sustainability of the sportI am not sure its going to move the dial much. At the risk of going off piste so to speak I think the product on the pitch needs work.. to attract a greater buzz and interest. Unless we can have a Caitlln Clark situation.... and even then the existing product wouldn't help create those moments.
  24. relying solely on on field success is not quite what I said either... another way would have been for me to say you need a foundation of relative success for the off field marketing efforts or stadium initiatives to build upon...
  25. do you really think that if the clubs are not performing well on the pitch that the clubs would still increase crowds. Of course the overall club efforts off field enables the club to invest in the playing side, whether coaches or players, which in turn improves performance on theo pitch, thus encouraging people to attend/look again. Then the marketing, communications and stadium initiatives can help turn more to actually attending. I know I am stating the obvious but felt need to remind that successful teams are a big factor.
