  1. How does someone in the South, or non-local start following a club that they could only watch 3/4 times a year on TV?
  2. The only thing I didn't like about the new Gladiators was Barney Walsh. The nepotism on show for that is insane in my opinion. I honestly had to look up what he had done, and had seen he had been in 20 ish episodes of Casulty and had been in a couple of films as small roles. What part of that qualifies him for what seems to be the biggest re-launch of a show that BBC have done in quite awhile, you can tell he is inexperienced and a bit wooden in his delivery - I can't necessarily blame him for that, he is inexperienced - But he shouldn't be co-presenting such a big show.
  3. This is great news for Super League, one of the things RL in this country seriously lacks is exposure on things like Social Media. We have an incredibly exciting game that in each match can have multiple moments that could be clipped and put out in a 1 minute/2 minute clip to get more eyes. The NRL are doing great with this type of content. It will hopefully also improve highlights of games in general, as highlights of a match are the highlights, at the moment 90% of highlights of SL games seem to just be tries, we have a lot more highlights in every game then just the tries that are scored.
  4. Thanks, I had no knowledge Ice Hockey had spread its wings so wide. My only experience of Ice Hockey in this country is going to the Docklands in London and seeing a London team play there. I have no memory of what their name was, but it felt quite strange going to basically Canary Wharf and seeing an Ice Hockey match. I do remember them having an employee that also worked for the Broncos at the time and my dad speaking with him about it.
  5. It's a national sport. I don't believe any sports competition has teams from England, Scotland, Wales & N. Ireland.
  6. Someone said on another thread a few weeks ago that, he went away to his friends wedding after being told no. No idea if that is at all truthful though.
  7. I am very confused.. Unless I have missed something, he hasn't died? (It's Graham Norton, by the way)
  8. I've been a big fan of Abdull since he came to London and played so well, and then continued playing well for Hull KR. I hope this move will allow him to make another step up in his career and really get a injury free run of form.
  9. It's not really like for like comparisons. Ally Pally has roughly 10k a night to fill, whereas all of our "events" are at least 3 - 4 times as big for in person attendance.
  10. And I think it's pretty obviously that you over-hype almost every London player that has been signed in the last few months. I don't need to look into every single academy game in the UK, to look at every SL club and look through their ranks, to look at every NRL club and their young hookers. He has never played against top quality opponents, there are lots of players that can perform in the Championship and can't make the move up to SL or any other league. I haven't disrespected Leyland, I think he is a very talented player, and potentially he could be a world class player in time, but to say he is one of the best young hookers when he hasn't stepped foot in a full time professional league seems like overhype.
  11. He has just won young player of the year in the Championship. Calling him one of the best young hookers in the world when he has never played a game against top quality opponents is almost the definition of over hyping him.
  12. You really do have that over-hype angle going on. Are you David Hughes son?
  13. On the NRL's YT page.. They may have held rights footage still. Just because it's on YT doesn't mean anyone else can use the footage.
  14. Shhh, don't question the vaccine conspiracy
  15. Not sure its entirely relevant to a topic around Catalans new stand, but if it was that easy then London wouldn't be confirmed to be relegated after next year.
  16. If RL said no to Sky then most of the teams currently in SL would be bankrupt/go into administration within a few years without serious cut backs. Even with a TV deal that is "peanuts"
  17. Tulsen Tollett is my earliest memory of a specific player that was my "favourite" as well as Steele Retchless. After that then players like Mark McLinden were definitely favourites before London Junior players started coming through.
  18. I'm pretty sure in their announcement they had a stipulation in there that this wouldn't impact games that had been historically played in December.
  19. I'm not sure what you're searching as if you search London RL then the LB website is first and the Skolar's website is second. Advertising through Google tends to be quite an expensive form of marketing. I imagine if you are getting lots of adverts for RU, then that is because you are already searching for RU. I can't recall the last Lions advert I saw.
  20. Can you guys take the personal stuff to the DMs before you get this thread locked
  21. I'm pretty sure the majority of teams know roughly the amount of fans that are going to be attending a game. Most teams averages have been relatively steady for the last few years. It isn't like keeping this a secret and the away team spend the whole week in training saying "we'll only have to playing against 13 men and 6k fans" and suddenly they're playing infront of 15k fans and they are completely lost and don't know what to do because of the huge amount of home support.
  22. I am not of the same opinion of you in terms of Welsby getting into any NRL side, he is a good player, but he still has things to work on. The NRL and SL are different competitions, I believe the best and even the majority of middle-ish players could make it in the NRL if they were signed and given pre seasons, etc. But the NRL is week in, week out intensity that you don't get in SL. They have more top quality players in each team then we have in SL. There is a difference between the competitions for skill sets, etc. It isn't a surprise when you look at the potential player pool that the NRL fish from compared to Super League. But the Messi situation really isn't comparable whatsoever. When Messi moved to Barcelona they were probabaly the biggest club in the world, alongside Real Madrid and Manchester United. The premiership has improved since then, but Messi was always getting paid huge amounts of money for Barcelona, he was never going to get huge amounts more to move to the Prem. If anything I imagine as a South American he would grow up watching more matches in La Liga then he would premiership, so that would naturally be the league he would stay in. The disparity between football leagues isn't the same in comparison between SL and the NRL. Welsby, obviously is now on a marquee contract, so I am not sure exactly how much he is being paid, but it wouldn't be that far of a bad assumption to say he would earn more if he did go to the NRL, like any SL player would.
  23. Everything I've seen about Andy Murray's "personality" seems to be pretty decent. As someone else mentions, his English jokes are quite amusing, I recall watching him on Mock the Week after he won Wimbledon earlier that week I believe it was and the comedians just took the mick out of him for the reasons why you don't think he has a personality. Overall he took it in very good spirits. Just because you don't know about a sportsperson's "personality" doesn't mean it isn't out there for people who consume different types of media to find out about.
  24. That depends on what his role was, I see him and Wells more as the analysts rather than as someone who needs to elevate as much, with the others having that job. I'm indifferent towards Clarke.. Just want Barry & Terry gone.
