Are the RFL not accepting any new teams?

Toronto had one guy with a dream who found a backer, not totally dissimilar to Ricky Wilby having a dream in NY and finding people to back him.

The thing to remember over here is this: rugby league isn't very well known at all, and USARL teams are basically amateurs who draw small (to be generous) crowds. Any team here is going to be introducing the sport to 99% of the sports fans in it's area. 

Crikey didn't realise, my bad :(. That's my point with Jacksonville thought they've achieved attendances of 3 figures a few time now.

Actually it wouldn't cost a penny to buy Widnes, but you would have to take on the debt and the players contracts of those who were in contract.

You think Halton Council would be happy to have their stadium primarily occupied with a club under the name Liverpool ? , and do you think having the name Liverpool would attract any more interest to a club playing at Widnes ? , as in fans or corporate support from Liverpool ? , do you think that the all the current Widnes fans would continue to support a club playing in Widnes under the name Liverpool ?

it would be killing the club by moving it to a new place in practical terms.

I think that's what we see a lot of from now on.

Most likely any clubs selling it licence will end up on the other side of the atlantic.

There's a world of difference between those two men though.  Eric Pérez grew up in Toronto and had a marketing business there before he got into RL, so he came with solid knowledge of the Toronto market, whereas Ricky Wilby is an outsider who has no comparable knowledge of the New York market.

League Weekly reports Eric Perez bought Hemel Stags’ League 1 licence last year with a view to starting Hamilton. 

Not sure if that licence means much now Hemel are in the Southern Conference but the report suggests they are above New York in the pecking order.

League Express meanwhile reports Perez bought the entire club (Hemel) but is looking at starting a club in Montreal not Hamilton.

Strange that Perez is not listed as a Hemel  Stags director on Companies House if - if! - he bought the club last year as LE reports.
