Hull KR player called up by Nigeria!

It is not pointless as its brought free publicity for Nigerian RL internationally. Even at a low level it's better than zero.

It also highligts to potential local players the opportunities RL can provide for Nigerian athletes.

The article is pointless, not the publicity.

They could’ve interviewed someone like Adebiyi, Egodo or Mustapha who might play in the MEA Championship rather than someone who is prioritising their club. Makes it a hollow article

Sounds like they are prioritising their own health.. "Wants to concentrate on having a full pre-season after a injury hit 2018" Not sure how it is hollow - Why does it have to be this player interviewed or another? Can't more than one be interviewed?

You all prove the cynical nature of Rugby League guys.

Playing or not, a 19-year-old HULL-born lad, is prepared to help a developing nation and represent the country of his deceased g-father.

How’s he helping develop them and when is he going to represent them?

interviews a plenty in the nigerian guardian.

I know, so why hasn’t the Mirror done the same?

There are plenty of people who have done lots for the development there including Adebisi and Mbu, but yet they decide to interview some guy who won’t be playing for them for the foreseeable future.

It would be nice if they actually showcased some of the work they’d done and the forthcoming MEA Championship

That's not really how the national press works,  the angle is the guy is surprisingly of Nigeria heritage.

It creates a talking point, you can bet some newspaper in Nigeria has re-ran that story.

Infotainment.

In the same way Ryan Giggs West African heritage gets rolled out from time to time.

Or Stuart Littler and his cote d'ivoire heritage he likes to display. (That's one for the irish out there).

Or actor Nick Frost played for London Nigerian.

Blogs and podcasts are the home of any real sports journalism.
