"New" Crown Flatt

Recommended Posts

During the empty days that I am currently occupying I have been looking into the depths of my cupboards, digging out some old memories. Amongts them is this programme of our final game at Mount pleasant before the relocation to our new ground and a glorious future. It is worth looking at the artist's impression of "New Crown Flatt" as it was then dubbed and the present day reality.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

The artist's impression is fairly similar now we have the terracing behind the sticks. Be good to get some down the other end one day. Still very proud of our stadium, especially when you think of some of the bigger clubs of the early 1990s who never really replaced their grounds - Oldham, Halifax, Swinton, etc.

Wakefield, Castleford and Bradford to name three others.

And one not too far away who like to think of themselves as a "bigger club".

Yes. They had their own RL ground, now they are just tenants at a council ground, previously the soccer ground. The same can be said of Huddersfield, Wigan etc.
