There was a rugby league team in knaresborough for a while, I remember playing against them and getting a forearm smash to my face leaving me with a nice gash under my eye. They were a union team playing in the league summer season, not sure if still going. Facilities were dreadful, on a par with some of the worst rugby league grounds

Harrogate Hawks are playing York Barbarians today in Starbeck. I'm in Whitby taking on fluids though.

I was down near Alfreton yesterday, watching non-league football. Came across the ground - in a public park at South Normanton - of Bolsover Bulls RLFC, who appear to run a number of junior teams. Posts up, pitch marked out and a publicity poster on the outside of the changing rooms.

Nice to see some rugby league interest remains in that part of the world, despite the long ago demise of semi-pro Mansfield Marksman RLFC, who played at Field Mill, Mansfield, then at North Street, Alfreton.

They really should be the Bolsover Beasts with Dennis Skinner as honorary chairman.

I also went into a Wigan Rugby League bar in Tenerife in 1993 not far from the whole Las Americas strip but went looking for it again in 1996 and couldn't find it.

I was in a medical waiting room in NZ and I spotted a sign ostensibly about nurses. I realised it was a subliminal message from a Wire fan using an innocent poster to get his message across. What an unusual place to spot RL, albeit done surreptitiously.

I have a tv programme on Channel 5 on in the background about Cornwall. My wife chirps up that the man operating a mechanical digger on Newquay beach is wearing a Leeds Rhinos shirt. Sure enough he was. I’ll make a rugby league shirt spotter out of her yet.

Today I saw a Gateshead Thunder polo shirt in a charity shop in Bridlington. That could be the most random thing I've ever seen.

Really? There are loads of charity shops in Brid.

Walking through a wet and windy Peel in the IOM a couple of days ago. Passed an elderly woman walking the other way, pushing a shopping cart. She was wearing an old TT baseball cap (not that unusual over here), but also had on a Toronto Wolfpack coat.

Met 2 Huddersfield season ticket holders on another canal boat going through a lock ....

Although being in Yorkshire probably isn't that strange. 😂

I'm surprised a known RU bore like Clarkson didn't ban him on sight.

I always wondered why the Wigan fan in this video went clubbing in his Norweb shirt.

Apparently, all Wigan fans are obsessed with Saints aren't they?

While looking for details of an MCC cricket fixture in County Durham, I discovered Park View Academy of Sport, Chester-le-Street, has a rugby league team. They're playing Scotland U19s, at Winlaton Vulcans RUFC, on August 31 (2.0 kick-off), in what the academy describes as a showcase game.

Funnily enough came across the same thing when searching for Scotlandrl on X/Twitter.

Good to see

Circa 1990-91. Top of the Pops. Indie "Madchester" band Paris Angels. Hard to discern, only got brief glimpses, could have sworn the drummer (sadly since passed away) was wearing a Balmain jersey.

By no means far-fetched, NSWRL jerseys were all the rage at the time among League fans here and in NZ. Internet searches unavailing. No trace of the performance anywhere.
