Hope I'm wrong but I think the writing is on the wall for Newcastle, if they carry on next season I doubt the will muster a squad that will manage to stay in the Championship after that and if back in L1 I don't think they will carry on.

I hope if Mr Kurdi decides to throw in the towel he doesn't just fold the club, but returns it to where he got it from, a community club in Gateshead. 

Given the community base that now exists in the North East, there's no reason a club couldn't exist in League 1, and act as a pathway for promising players to head to the heartland. 

Indeed in my view that's what L1 should be for.
