North Wales Crusaders appoint full time community development officer

Recommended Posts

This is the kind of thread I like to read. How many junior clubs are there in North Wales?
How many could the area potentially sustain?

Do you have plans for an Academy?

Fearnowt can I ask please. I understand that the stadium in Colwyn bay has a decent atmosphere, which is great. I've considered trying to get there myself.  But, best case scenario and Crusaders get promoted, I understand that the stadium also has a low capacity. Is there talk of what might happen in future if demand for tickets exceeds the stadium capacity? Cheers

Fearnowt.  Excellent read and well done to all at the club.

Out of curiosity is the position fully funded by the club or a mix of club and external funding?  If the former then it’s a great effort.  If it’s the latter then it shows that all clubs that currently don’t have such a position can learn from this.

Quite pleasantly surprised at the reaction to my post. Truth be told I'm not involved in organising any of this, I'm just a fan who thinks it"s a good news story worthy of posting on here.

I do know that this is being funded by the club and supporters (through the supporters trust), I just hope it is sustainable.

(Posting this on my break at work, I'll pay another visit when I've got more time tonight).

The stadium capacity is 6,000 and our record crowd was about 1,600 at the Racecourse, when we won promotion in 2013, so don't see us exceeding capacity any time soon.

As I have said in a post this morning, I'm not involved in organising any of this but understand it is driven by the North Wales Crusaders Foundation.

I'm not really aware how they are funded, but I know the supporters trust are chipping in to help get things going, so it's pretty much a do it yourself effort from the club. As well as the junior programme in the schools, a women's team has been formed this year.

Ok thanks, I didn't realise the capacity was nearly that high, thought I'd read that it was lower, but my mistake sorry.   Do you think that the positive seeds that are being sown in schools etc are translating into small steps forward in attendance in recent times - I hope so?

I hope so too, perhaps we will find out when we start playing at home again. Only two home games so far this year, and one of those was played in Widnes!

We're back in Colwyn Bay next month after a 10 week gap between home games for the laying of a new 4g pitch, then we have four home games in four weeks.

I really like going to Colwyn Bay, but some of us would also like come back to Wrexham where the fans are (but that's another story). I'm not sure how much people realise that moving to Colwyn Bay literally saved the club from folding a couple of years ago.
