When we enjoyed the 50th Anniversary of winning the Championship on the 19th of May, the Keighley club was having a Q & A evening at Lawkholme Lane. One of the questions raised was about Luke Gale’s (short) time there and the audience was told he was a “luxury”.

Can anyone suggest a player or players who might be described as a “luxury” who turned out for Dewsbury?

I remember talking to Warren Jowett when he took over as head coach and he said that Dean Lawford was a luxury,especially when he’s sat on his ###### in the stand.

Brilliant occasion that season, but further down the line, the club nearly went bankrupt.
