League structures?

A number of clubs have put forward ideas of three divisions of 12 teams, League Express understands with a return to the Middle 8s for the Championship and League One in a bid to drive competition between the two leagues.

Meanwhile, Super League is set to remain at 12 teams with IMG’s pillars still very much the focus for clubs aiming for Grade A status.

The idea behind a Middle 8s would see the top eight of the Championship play off with the bottom four playing off against the top four from League One.

It is hoped that such a concept would spark interest and drive crowds towards the back end of the season as well as giving all clubs something to play for.

This just sounds like "make the Championship play-offs eight places rather than six". Using the phrase Middle 8s is strange as that specifically referred to the next 8 teams outside the top 8 in SL, ie the bottom 4 in SL and the top 4 in Championship.

Not really in this case the middle 8's refer to bottom 4 in championship against top 4 in league 1 while top 8 would be in a playoff idea is all clubs in championship playing for something end of season

So is the middle 8s between lower Championship clubs and upper League 1 clubs you are referring to instead of promotion, or as well as?

For me, the play-offs already water down the regular season as it is, with loads of clubs (including us this year) adopting the strategy of just being vaguely competitive over the first two thirds of the season and then gearing up, perhaps with a few signings, for those couple of games at the end of the season.

well if  it's run the same as the old qualifiers  I would have thought teams who finish 4th and 5th will play of in the NOT the Million pound game to get promotion:kolobok_laugh1:
