Workington

Big game against Workington Town, we're even on points so both teams will be hoping for a result. Play like we did against Keighley and we should win, play like we did against Cornwall and it may be a different result.

A close game, 8 either way.

I think Cornwall proved they are rapidly improving by that great result at Midlands. This Hornets team is improving week on week and should have enough to beat Worky, although I am always nervous against an Anthony Murray coached team. Fingers crossed 👍

Best performance all season. After falling short against Hunslat and Keighley we finally get a result that reflects the performance. We blew Workington away in the last 20 of the first half and never looked back. We looked great in attack making good yards after contact and line brakes, we also spread the ball well. We put in some really strong tackles and even when we were far a head in the closing minutes of the game we kept Town out which was good to see.

Now we go on our road trip and with some tough games coming up we need a repeat performance.

That was an almost perfect performance from the team today. Both attack and defence were on fire from the first minute until the last. If the squad stays healthy for the rest of the season then the team will be there in the playoffs.

Congratulations to the team, coaches, back room staff, directors and the people that give their time voluntarily.

RUGBY LEAGUE WITHOUT ROCHDALE HORNETS IS LIKE AN UNSHARPENED PENCIL, THERES NO POINT?

An almost error free performance today, especially in the first half. We’re really starting to look the part after a bumpy start. The team that makes the least mistakes usually wins and today was no exception. Our line defence was much better and with the ball in hand we scored some great tries. All in all - a good day at the office. Anybody who wasn’t entertained today needs to be making an appointment to see their GP tomorrow.

The long period without home games is something we have learned to live with. However after next weeks game at Newcastle we have only two games in 42 days. … just as we are getting all our players back and hitting form. The fixture list in this league is horrendous.

I was just thinking that when I looked at the fixture list to see when the next home game was - 2 months away. It’s just not sustainable.

When I was a kid the football pitch was a real mess come the last game of the season. There would be a diamond going from one goal mouth out to the wings on the half way line and back to the other goal. Hardly any grass to speak of inside that diamond. Come the middle of August the pitch would be perfect again.

Looking at the pitch today it wasn’t in anything like that condition yet we have to play away for 2 months every year. Any momentum we manage to build up is just lost.
