Nice list, however in true TRL style I’m going to have to be pedantic here, does Charlie Glover count as he’s from Widnes.

Didn’t know that. Thanks, will remove him then.

So Widnes isn't a suburb of Chernobyl?

Sheep poisoned by fallout from Chernobyl were `processed' in Widnes apparently. Rainfall days later caused radioactive particles to enter the food chain.

Pretty depressing that’s there’s not much development going on outside of the big 3 countries other than France, PNG and Fiji.

The other Pacific teams are mainly heritage teams without much local grass roots structure in their heritage countries.

Fiji is mainly players that moved to Oz as emigrants or ex Union juniors.

True but the silktails are doing a good job and there’s a domestic league and schools competition in Fiji.

My thoughts reading this list are that I am pumped to see Aispuro-Bichet develop. He's one of the most promising U-20 players in the world. I think he has all the skills to go to the top.

I'd love to see the Australian schoolboys play a Rest of the World side, heehee.

I’d like to see a 5-6 team u18’s tournament between the likes of England, Australia, NZ, France, PNG and Fiji.

I think they should bring in an U19s World Cup. With Australia, England, New Zealand, France, PNG, Fiji, Wales and one other side, probably the likes of USA, Ireland, Netherlands or Jamaica. I think it would be very competitive tournament bar the 8th side. France would shock a few big name teams aswell.

Have two groups of 4, Semi finals and a final. Rules of only 5 heritage players per side, though this would only really affect PNG, Fiji and Wales. This would be a such a great idea, I hope it happens.

Yeah it certainly is. On the positive side though Netherlands are looking fantastic. I believe I’m correct in saying they have the 4th highest playing numbers in Europe behind England, France and Wales. There team is improving rapidly and I have big hopes for them. USA of course has potential, and with investment from the NRL anything is possible, the main problem though is the USARL who are absolutely hopeless at there jobs.

Jamaica have very high playing numbers and are looking really exciting, so do Greece. I think those 4 countries and probably Ireland and Serbia aswell are doing very well and have genuine potential for growth.

South Africa aswell will of course always have potential.

Walkley, Yates and Parker are good but there’s a couple of young lads around 16/17 that have the potential to be better from a Welsh perspective:

- Ceirion Emmett-Jones (capable of playing across the backline, just signed at St Helens)

- Finlay Walker (a hooker who’s passing range is exceptional as is his fitness, just signed for Salford)

- Matt Clatworthy (half back also with St Helens, he played against my U16s team I coached in the summer, barely broke a sweat - ball on a string and only partook for 25 mins)

Saw that Finlay Walker was in the U19s side. To be playing U19s whilst U16 and at an international level, is pretty incredible stuff. I’m sure he is a great player, good to hear he’s signed with Salford. Wish him all the best. Good to hear about all the Welsh players signing with SL clubs. I hope some of the will make it because, the welsh talent from the old crusaders side are beginning to retire.

I don’t think there will be a single Welsh raised player in SL next year with Dudson going to Oldham. Let’s hope Billy Walkley is picked up by an SL club, he is a special talent.

I honestly thought that by now we’d be seeing players emerge from Serbia and the Balkan region.

good news about the Netherlands though.

would love to see some development in Germany and Poland too.

Serbia is have continued to struggle at international level both youth and senior. Despite have very high playing numbers and a few quality teams. Not sure what seems to be the issue. They are a certainly one of the best second tier nations in Europe but they can’t seem to push on where they can challenge Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland, etc.
