UpTheRaiders Posted January 15 Posted January 15 (edited) Salford in a bad way with the RFL instructing them to sell players. Doesn't bode well for us with regards to our agreement with them I'd assume Pye will play 2 weeks for us and be recalled. https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/salford-red-devils-player-sales-to-begin-as-huge-salary-cap-reduction-order-revealed Think we urgently need to sign a prop or two now as clearly we aren't going to be able to call on Salford Edited January 15 by UpTheRaiders 1
Ulverstonian Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Not looking great for them at present and if they have to sell players it will impact our deal no doubt. I am sure if we know that so will the club !!! 1

But then can we afford someone like him. 2

2Cents Posted January 16 Posted January 16 (edited) Would imagine there'll be a number of Super League Clubs with deep pockets making bids for Salford's best players including Bullock. Expect they'll accept the highest offer. We're not in the same league - factually and financially. As already mentioned, our DR deal with them could be in jeopardy. Maybe they'll be some face to face talks on Saturday. PS: I'd be happy to contribute to a Raiders 'GOFUNDME New Players' Page. Edited January 16 by 2Cents 1
SJD Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I hear we are due to have a couple of loan forwards coming in, one from Leigh on a season long loan and another we have had here before, have some faith in the club. 1
Ulverstonian Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Think Brown from last season will be one I have heard. Pleased if so. 1

Dave W Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Not surprised tbh. At least it gives us the chance to see some of the likely DR players. 1
RLDB Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Salfords first team are in Portugal on a training camp, not sure how that works when your on the bones of your ar$e! 2
Rod77 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Brad Walker has to play loose forward, that last 15/20 minutes at loose forward he was magnificent. 4
2Cents Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) Men v Boys to be honest. When this fixture was arranged did the Raiders know Salford 1st team squad would be in Portugal and they'd send their reserves? Stronger opposition would have been preferable. Totally agree with Rod77, Walker made several clear breaks in the 2nd half and also made some delightful thro' kicks, some which resulted in tries. Having said that, he needs another 10 yards distance for touchline try conversions. Edited January 18 by 2Cents 3
ghost of uncle fester Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Can only ever play against what's in front of you but for me that was verging on pointless that game bar for fitness . Am a tiny bit worried we'll get to game one of the championship slightly undercooked after 3 pretty easy games and wins against teams that are well off even hunslets standard ,two of them being light years off . And to top that off with a challenge cup game against an amateur team . But I would hazard a guess today's opponents were expected to field a far stronger team prior to recent events . 2

Yes totally agree, having Walker at loose forward gives us that Carl Forster type of player we had a couple of seasons ago if not better with his kicking game too. We can play with 3 Half backs on the pitch with Walker in the 13, would love to see it happen think we would see our best rugby. Please bring back Ryan Shaw into the team for his kicking. 1

Are they still over there? I can’t imagine Rowley/Cresta would have agreed to send the kids at the time it was arranged given their good relationship 1

I thought their 6 Morgan was pretty tidy, aware he has played SL for them. I wouldn't be against having him if we are short in the halves. Edited January 19 by Raider91 3
