Salford City Reds are believed to have negotiated the double-signing of two high-profile Wigan stars.

Reds are favourites to land Kiwi prop Feka Paleaasina and another top overseas star possibly ex-Aussie international Phil Bailey - who is also coming out of contract.

Reds fans will, however, have to wait for official confirmation of the signings until the end of the season.

I think Salford are rebuilding and having a major overhaul of their squad which is needed.

But wonder why they are going for so many imports who are past their prime?

Feka and Bailey are experienced but are hardly gonna transform them into a top side.

Solomona has done more off the bench for Warrington this season than he did in two seasons as a starter for the Bulls.

And he was allegedly on 170,000 per annum.

Magnificent news for Wigans youth policy, I expect they will be replaced by young Wigan products?

No sadly these are gonna be replaced by the Melbourne trio of Finch, Lima and Hoffman.

I dont think you can knock Wigan this year, they have played their Kids when they had too, Mr McQuire doesnt seem too big on egos, if the stars are not performing he has given youth a chance. He also has them miles fitter than last year, even the Pie Man Riddell seems to have shed a few pounds. When you see Roberts, Phelps and Paliesena in the Reserves, you cannot knock his selections.

As a Salford fan, I welcome the squad building. I must say that I am not sure that we are signing players of the right quality, though. They seem to be solid, dependable types, but not the sort that will turn us into contenders. Still, we should do better than this season. smile.gif We can hardly do worse. sad.gif

In many ways, Salford remind me of Warrington of old

Signing journey men and putting a team around "their" key players.

Good on them!!

What else do you expect them to do????

Promote a few of the much-vaunted juniors?

Sorry. I realise my mistake.
