#2974428 Too quiet on the Western Front!

Whilst I would love nothing more than us winning promotion. I am not as bothered if we do not this time, and it is not the fear of going up, because the restructure seems to have got this division in a better state for next season. I would still like a straight home and away format, with a Cup knock out competition. But 14 or 15 clubs in the division is a step in the right direction.

There are many things wrong at the club, but falling crowds is one thing the stay aways can correct themselves, this may then lead to the club having more money to correct the other things.

I think things will improve next season, with regards to regular fixtures. There is still the promise of possible promotion, but even if this is not achieved, next seasons fixture structure should be much better with around 15 teams in the league to play a straight home and away format.

Not only a fantastic performance. Another highlight of entertainment was when Lewis Palfrey shouted to Kev the Cabbie by name, to shut up while he took his kick at goal. Class.

#2931919 Sunday's match

Posted by saints10coach on 19 May 2014 - 09:43 AM

Think I have to take a look at myself. I witnessed an excellent game of Rugby in red hot conditions, and all I could do was moan about how we let a 27 point lead slip. When the true fact of the matter looking back with hindsight was, we showed remarkable resolve to score the last gasp try that won the game. So now I have got my blood pressure down to a reasonable level. Well done to the Roughyeds.

I would also like to say what a pleasant place to watch Rugby, Whitebank is when the sun is out.

RIP Nigel. You leave a big hole at the club and in the town.

The title of this thread was "Roden Testimonial". If you wanted to express your opinion on Phil Costin's departure, you could have started another thread, rather than derail this one.

When we write our opinions we get accused of coming out the woodwork, rubbing salt in the wounds and negativity.I went to Leigh on Sunday and came away sick to the stomach and with raised blood pressure (fact).Sunday was another point in time when you look at things and come to a conclusion.IF Oldham is meant to a business changes need to come. This happens all the time both in business and sport.

We have done the coach changes so It has to be the man at the top. There has to be a message in losing 5 playoffs,6 if you count the Widnes one.

To me to continue as we are year on year has to be the most utterly negative thing imaginable. If you buy into it carry on.You have no say in the club and the man at the top will continue to deliver something that gets less and smaller every year.

Wanting a change is not negative it's constructive.

Playing Devils advocate. Would you not say that getting to 7 cup finals in a 14 year history, is amazing?

#2720441 Best Oldham coach?

Posted by saints10coach on 11 June 2013 - 02:14 PM

one of the major resources was a fantastic colts team and A team.

Indeed and when you think who came out of that Colts tea. Andy Goodway, Mick Worrall, Terry Flanagan, Paddy Kirwan, Ray Ashton.

maybe we should have listed the late Brian Gartland as the best coach.

I see ex Widnes Chairman Stephen Vaughan is making a bid for Latics.

Well done Michael and Jennifer.

#2713867 Memorabilia

Posted by saints10coach on 03 June 2013 - 08:43 AM

No. Still no reply from ORLFC.

It is the wish of the family for the collection to be kept together and given to the Heritage Trust.

I have no problem with your decision. Like you say, it is the best way to keep things together and enhance the already considerable collection held by the heritage trust.

My original gripe is how quickly some posters will try to deflect anything positive away from the current regime running the club. This if we are not careful, will be the demise of the club. Then all we will have is the memorabilia and the memories left.
