#3269909 Today's Game

Posted by saints10coach on 08 February 2016 - 09:17 AM

There were many positives as has been said. I thought Palfreys kicking game was spot on. The amount of pressure we put on them in the first half, producing many repeat sets, you have to give the London defence a big rap for holding out. Also thought Lepori had a fine game at full back, with good kick returns and two certain try saving tackles.

Another tough test against full timers next week, then the real league battle starts.

#3203079 Imagine Whitebank was revamped....

Changing the orientation of the pitch is not something I had thought of. But that would probably solve the ownership issues as well as allowing the pitch to be widened and lengthened, to meet RFL rules.

but wheres the club going to go on gates of 250-300?

We could start an internet campaign for more fans to attend games, then the club would get more revenue and may be able to improve facilities and improve the squad.

Saints 10 Coach

You are obviously missing the point. The comments on the site recently are because of concern for the club and the way it is being run by the one owner. By  your comments it appears that you are a supporter of CH and your comments about people having a gripe just to get at CH. Our attendances are dwindling as fans are fed up with what is happening.

Your comments about the days at Watersheddings are true but with the difference that the fans owned the club as members and the committee were appointed by them and were always to discuss things with the fans after the game.

Perhaps if we revert back to a members club the glory days may return again

The problem now its a one man band and you never see him after a game unless you go into the sponsored  lounge.

Its not up to the fans, or so called gripers on here who are the problem, they could be the solution if only CH would meet them in a  open meeting with the press present.

This would stop all the negativity.

I am a fan of Oldham Rugby, not any board member, I am more interested in the players on the field.

Attendances are dwindling and this is compounded by gripers encouraging others not to go on this site.

The club had large debts when it was run by a committee. As any businessman who tried to get their money off them at the time will tell you.

Also you find that a lot of people on committees like that are just there to wear the blazer, and when it comes to putting their hands in their pocket, you find the pockets a very deep and they cannot reach.

Perhaps if we revert back to a members club the glory days may return again

I doubt it.

I don’t need to see him, as I said before I go to watch the players.

The danger posed to the club is the power of social media. What is happening on here, a dozen or so people having a gripe about the management and the things that they control or even have no control over. In the past, this type of discussion would have took place in the Sheddings club after a game, and would have been balanced as the people with the gripe would have been asked by others to offer their alternative, and if they could not offer a viable alternative, it would not be brought up again. Unless the person with the gripe was unreasonable and unwilling to accept that the club did not have the funds to do what they were suggesting. Sadly on social media sites like this, the gripe just gathers momentum, because the people with a reasoned view choose to ignore the comments and the uninformed are easy to convince to follow, what they think is the majority.

I would still want to hear them off Mr Hamilton Nevertheless.... Question 3) in Particular  ...How could potential Sucessors answer anyway without current facts?

A more likely cause of failure, would probably be "the dirty dozen" or so that are sticking the knifes in on this forum, trying to get the RFL involved and other such tactics. Will "the dirty dozen" accept the responsibility, if the club does collapse and the RFL do not allow a team to run in the town again?

Or Rugby Oldham clearly state in their constitution that they are there for the amateur game only. Which would then surely leave the gate open for a second trust.

They must have changed their mind on that Tosh.

#3011081 Not Again

Posted by saints10coach on 10 October 2014 - 12:46 PM

A group of ten people did try to help they where prepared to put 10k each in but needed to see the accounts I'm sure you know the ending

If you were friends with our other director on FB, you would have been privy to a few corrections to all this hearsay that floats around on this board. Although a brief rant he said it all about ownership and previous owners.

There definitely was no mention of a consortium of 10 with 10 grand each. So I will choose not to believe you, unless you name them.

Therefore we are back to were we where, with no money and someone trying his heart out to make the club a success with little help.

Whilst I would love nothing more than us winning promotion. I am not as bothered if we do not this time, and it is not the fear of going up, because the restructure seems to have got this division in a better state for next season. I would still like a straight home and away format, with a Cup knock out competition. But 14 or 15 clubs in the division is a step in the right direction.

There are many things wrong at the club, but falling crowds is one thing the stay aways can correct themselves, this may then lead to the club having more money to correct the other things.

I think things will improve next season, with regards to regular fixtures. There is still the promise of possible promotion, but even if this is not achieved, next seasons fixture structure should be much better with around 15 teams in the league to play a straight home and away format.
