Off to see The Decemberists again as they tour the UK in November.  One of the best live bands of all.
This is a powerful video too; have a look at the comments, started by the songwriter Colin Meloy.

Just been enjoying Leon Russell & the Shelter People's TV special, The Homewood Session. You can find the whole thing easily online, but here's the final track, a truncated version of 'Of thee I sing', with Leon doing the big finish and backing singer Claudia Lennear* just about managing to keep her top on.

*apparently the inspiration for the Rolling Stones' song Brown Sugar, trivia fans.

Title track from John Grant's new album, Love Is Magic.

This is one of the more accessible numbers. I think you'd need to be a fan already to listen to this latest collection tbh, some of it is a bit weird, not least the opening track, but it pays off with repeated plays.

I'm into it now, but casual listeners would have bailed less than half way through I reckon.

A better place to start with John Grant is his first solo album Queen of Denmark, not a duff track on it IMO, some great melodies, emotionally raw lyrics and the bloke possesses a magical voice.
