  1. It's not quantum thermodynamics. They should have looked at what Saints, Wigan, Catalans etc have been doing for quite a few years and copied them.
  2. "I see sport as been decided on the pitch" Exactly. That is why the grading structure is so important, as it lays down the criteria that must be met in order to ensure a winning team. The criteria are indeed "success factors". The ten habits of successful clubs" as it were.
  3. There are no " money-men" in rugby league. Above all, well-heeled current and potential owners need a burning ambition to see their chosen club to succeed, rather than hoping, trying, needing to make money. It is my opinion that Halifax's answer to Derek Beaumont would not let any apparent "closed shop" interpretation of the Re-imagining Rugby League project get in the way of realising his or her ambition.
  4. I think the appropriate word is "licencing" Franchising is based on a marketing concept which can be adopted by an organization as a strategy for business expansion. Where implemented, a franchisor licenses some or all of its know-how, procedures, intellectual property, use of its business model, brand, and rights to sell its branded products and services to a franchisee. In return, the franchisee pays certain fees and agrees to comply with certain obligations, typically set out in a franchise agreement. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franchising?wprov=sfla1
  5. Indoor sports are planned, though. Will soon overtake AIO because of location. I' m more interested in any potential for our sport given the sports interests of Lieweke and the interests of US people in the UK sporting landscape from Wrexham to Liverpool and more.....
  6. It won't have escaped people's attention that the country's largest indoor arena has had er...teething problems. ...but it'll be sorted. It's owned jointly by Man City, Harry Styles and the Oak View Group. The top man of the Oak View Group has many sports interests including Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, and Toronto FC.ell ihttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Leiweke Why not Toronto Wolfpack, or given his involvement with Manchester, why not Salford Red Devils?
  7. In franchising, a club would have to buy a franchise from the RFL and would have to operate according to the terms of that franchise. The look and feel of the club in all aspects, including ticket prices, would be set, monitored and imposed by the RFL. In return, the RFL would ensure that the club operated in market where the club could meet the targets it had imposed. The RFL would provide marketing material, opportunities, promotional activities and similar support. The franchise could be terminated, sold on, etc. In the case of poor performance, not meeting performance targets, the RFL would take the franchise back and sell it/close it. Think McDonalds, Kumon. Costa, Subway, Domino's, Burger King, Papa John's, Snap on Tools, Clarks. Licencing is much more loose in all respects. Perhaps IMG could bring in franchising as the next stage of the Reimagining Projects in 12 years.
  8. Sooner or later Saints are going to "come good" and I think this may well be that game, especially if HRK give Saints running-space around the PTB. After all Saints are top, even if only by the slimmest of margins.
  9. I'm away at present but when I return and get access to my various books on the topic, I might provide more detail. The definitive source on all these matters, though, is Padge, who I'm sure can cover the issues in accurate detail.
  10. Yes, you've imagined all that. Wigan didn't do anything other than do what any other club could have done: they ran the club in a more-or-less professional manner.
  11. The Nineties were a lost era for most rugby league fans outside Wiggin. I don't think that's correct. So we're all those big crowds at Wigan games home and away made up of mainly Wigan fans?
