The best song about a Volkswagen dealership in 1970s Zaire you’ll hear this week, I reckon

I have a Franco biography - "Congo Colossus: The Life and Legacy of Franco & OK Jazz" - very interesting read. Did a couple of trips to Paris specifically to buy Soukous records in the late eighties.

Today I was rescued by Tina Turner, not in person unfortunately, there was song after song that were plain awful on the radio in the car.

They culminated in One moment in time and Where ever you go take the weather with you i was tempted to give up altogether when Tina came on with What's Love Got to do With It?

Until then the music had seemed to make the whole of life into one long Tory leadership campaign with a sprinkling of  tedious middle of the road politics to boot.

Mister Rich Man, Rich Man
Open up your heart and mind
Mister Rich Man, Rich Man
Open up your heart and mind
Give the poor man a chance
Help stop these hard, hard time

While you livin' in your mansion
You don't know what hard time means
While you livin' in your mansion
You don't know what hard time means
Oh, workin' man's wife is starvin'
Your wife is livin' like a queen

Who needs a political thread when you can listen to songs like this one?
