dont know what the future holds for sharlston and queens

Queens don't seem the side they were for what it's worth. As for Sharlston do they still have players from Featherstone Lions? Might weaken them (or the Lions?) If they ended up summer. But yeah it is a fair question of what to do with clubs too good on the field for regional leagues but not good enough off it for NCL.

not good enough for ncl you haveing a laugh bowes sharlston hold there own in the ncl premier with all ex pros and money they pay

I would not be so sure if they would as it has been said before they are not playing competitive rugby every week.

Probably six hard games a season so unless other teams pay players as well they should be beating teams every week

and winning the league every year. But I see they have lost an home game already and although the premier is

in turmoil I think Fryston will win it even though Sharlston have already beaten them but at the time I think some

Fryston players were still at Featherstone Lions.

Finally if Sharlston really wanted to play in the NCL could they not link up with a junior club like Hunslet Old Boys

have done with Parkside Juniors to meet the criteria or would they prefer to be a big fish in a little pond.

The Sharlston chairmen wrote in the League Express,Pennine clubs are defecting to the sunshine league to play rugby at a lower standard.

What would be his response be if the NCL offered Sharlston the opportunity to join would he accept or decline. If he declined what would the real reason be because they would be playing at a lower standard or that they would no longer be a big fish in that drying up pond called the PENNINE LEAGUE.

Easier said than done for Sharlston to just simply link up with a junior club, is there any nearby junior only sections they could link up with?

Hunslet Parkside has always been an unofficial junior set up for HOB with players coming through that junior section... they've just now made it official to comply with NCL rules.

I think that is Sharlston showing bitterness to being left in the Pennine League with no competition; i'm sure their view on the league would be completely different had they been eligible!

Interesting to see how the remainder of season will go as clubs have a very lopsided number of games left. Stanningley only have 4 games to complete their season (in November!) whereas Morley Borough have 21 fixtures left to complete. Also interesting how frequently certain clubs postpone games

Well it's not what we wanted but given the leagues stance and their total refusal to enter into any discussions we'll be gone by next week I reckon

Yeah I'd be amazed if the 3 Halifax clubs didn't join the Yorkshire Men's League. And I expect a lot of other clubs will be looking at it including many of the sides that dipped their toes in the entry leagues last year. The Yorkshire Men's League has improved over time as the first season they tried an 'innovative' structure that backfired badly but now it's a proper league and for the most part works well and would work even better with more sides in.

I got the answer. Move everyone up to the Premier.

Restart the fixtures this weekend.

Everyone plays everyone home and away starting this weekend, season ending sometime in 2017.

At the end of the season have a top 44 team playoff........

This is make or break time for the officials who run the Pennine League IMO.If they do not listen to the clubs concerned they will move to the Summer League. If they try to rule with an iron fist and force clubs into the Premier then they will go into other Leagues such as Brighouse,Illingworth and Irish . I look forward to their next decision but i hope it does not take too long?

Our club had a meeting this week and a move to summer was raised as the Premier div has become a complete joke. Many lads feeling they are now playing what amounts to a friendly league each week but getting battered for the privilege.

Switch as in now or at the end of the season?

Re above what a sad time for the Pennine League and even more so for the hard working supporters of some very well run clubs who have been 'forced out'. The NCL haven't exactly covered themselves in glory either if the stories of underground scalping of Pennine League sides are true. But I forget, like the NCL seemingly do, their own minimum entry requirments are only useful to keep sides out they don't like but are conveniently forgetten when they are pillaging the Pennine League for teams to join them!

Still if these sides do join the Yorkshire Mens League it will spice up the competion particuarly the premier division where there are still too many fixtures called off particularly by the self labelled 'cream' NCL sides 'A' teams!
