Can the league afford to expell these teams ?

Worrying times for the amateur game ?

They haven't really got a choice with regards to Thornhill due to fixture scheduling and the Drighlington situation if they have been accepted.

As far as the Halifax clubs are concerned you're right but the league have already messed up the divisions to the point they can't accommodate them. They're down to a 6 team premier come what may but they can't viably run a 15 team Championship 1 division and the clubs won't under any circumstances play premier division.

So that is Queens,Sharlston,Fryston,Upton, west bowling and Queensbury in a 6 team premier division? Why wont clubs play Premier division rugby under any circumstances?I have never heard of this before in any sport?Everybodies ambition must be to play their chosen sport at the highest level?

The standard is too high for the clubs involved. Basically Halifax Irish didn't finish the premier division season next year so needed to regroup at a lower division and Illingworth and Brighouse were newly promoted into the Championship this season then suddenly found themselves press ganged into playing premier division with no consultation.

I've seen this happen before in the Yorkshire League.

As regards the Halifax League sides that have been press ganged into playing Premier division rugby there is an old ARMY saying" One volunteer is worth more than 10 pressed men".Have 6 premier teams unless any club wants to volunteer to go in the Premier.Thornhill have gone into the NCL so put Irish,Illingworth and Brighouse in Championship One.There are 12 teams in that division plus you have now got the 3 Halifax teams making 15 teams.Ask if there are any volunteers to drop into Division One such as Odsal,Brotherton,King Cross who have yet to win a game.Do not press gang them but if  2 drop down for example then there would be 13 teams in Championship one and 13 in Division One.In my opinion it would not take much to finely tune it.Your opinions to my theories would be appreciated as i am a non- official rugby supporter who was at the West Bowling versus Queens game yesterday and got talking to a couple of the coaching staff.

That's exactly what happened in the Yorkshire League and Drig were one of the first to go

HOB started near the bottom of YL and worked their way up so won't have been in top division at the same time as Drig

Old Boys started at the very bottom of the Yorkshire league and progressed through the divisions. They like Sharlston only left because there was no competition left in the Yorkshire League

Basically Hunslet Old Boys and Queens got invited into the premier and Birstall Victoria, Dewsbury Moor and Ossett Trinity into the new Championship because Yorkshire League premier became unworkable. Hunslet Warriors rejoined NCL that year. The Yorkshire league only lasted 2 seasons after that.

I found some 2002-03 seasons the other day and there were 6 teams from Yorkshire League areas:

Morley Borough

Drighlington A

Wetherby Bulldogs

York Groves

Crigglestone All Blacks

Westgate Redoubt

Anyone know which one joined first? Celtic Rooster reading?

Dudley Hill A will have been among the first to join as they were booted out of the Yorkshire League for multiple registration anomalies.

Westgate were also kicked out of the Yorkshire League.

Pennine league reiterated their decision at last nights meeting

No games taking place this week in the premier division as things stand, do the Pennine League operate a three strikes and your out rule?

Yes we've missed three now but they haven't kicked us out

Yet

I wonder if now the Chair of BARLA is embedded on the community board with the RFL has this been clever by the RFL as she is also secretary of the Pennine, where in the past they stood up to the RFL will the Pennine now disassemble itself so the RFL have got what they want by means of Summer Rugby for all
