NZ Warriors have secured another one of their most promising players after signing front rower Bunty Afoa to the end of the 2021 NRL season.

A stalwart in my fantasy team..... but then I finished 15th ???. Think Bunty  be replaced next season.

I used to live next door to a person named Bunton. His brother was the first player to win the AFL Brownlow Medal 3 times - their Dally M. He also won the South Aus FL Sandover Medal 3 times.

Melbourne are reported to have beaten grand final opponents the Roosters to the signature of Queensland five-eighth Cameron Munster.

Apparently Munster will begin talks with the Storm after Sunday night’s grand final on a three-year deal worth one million a season.

As many as seven NRL clubs are in the running for Munster’s services, including the Cowboys and the Roosters, but Munster appears set to shun rival approaches and recommit to the Storm.

Another carrier pigeon has brought news to Ireland that Lachlan Coote has signed for the Saints. Lachlan has not been reported as saying he wanted to be closer to Scotland.

Greg Inglis has been caught drink driving while speeding.

Earlier today, Inglis was named as the Kangaroos captain for Australia’s upcoming Tests against Tonga and New Zealand.

But by the afternoon, his day had taken a drastic turn.

The Rabbitohs star was stopped at Lithgow by police who say he was speeding on the Great Western Highway at 2.15pm on Monday.

The police gave Inglis a roadside breath test which returned a positive result and a blood alcohol reading of 0.085

Inglis was charged with mid-range drink driving and exceeding the speed limit and is due to appear in Lithgow Local Court on November 22.

If Inglis is forced to relinquish the captaincy, I suggest Cameron Munster instead. After all, a kick to the head is barely worth a fine in the NRL.

The word is that Issac Luke is about to get a one year contract to stay at NZ Warriors, but on much reduced terms.

I thought he was on the wane but he earned another year with his showings this year

Roosters’ fullback James Tedesco has capped a memorable season, winning the Jack Gibson Medal as the outstanding player for the NRL premiers.

A high-profile off-season recruit, Tedesco polled the most votes in an award that pays tribute to the Roosters’ 1974-75 premiership-winning coach.

It’s the latest recognition to come Tedesco’s way since his switch to the Roosters after spending six years at the Wests Tigers.

The 25-year-old last month collected the Brad Fittler Medal as NSW’s best player in the Blues’ State of Origin campaign.

Storm seem to be rubbishing media talk that they have dragged their heels in their dealings with a new one year contract for Cam Smith to continue. The club indicates that an offer has been tabled in some form and it is normal for these things to take time so both sides can be happy.

Melbourne Storm has resigned five players; Nelson Asofa-Solomona (until the end of 2023), Jarhome Hughes (2021), Scott Drinkwater (2020), Justin Olam(2020), and Kayleb Milne (2020).

Even though Asofa-Solomona had another year on his contract, the Kiwi international has extended his contract for another four years.

The 22-year-old has been improving week by week and is now considered one of the best front rowers in the competition.

Asofa-Solomona has played his best season so far by averaging career best running meters, tackle breaks, and tackles made.

Hughes has also extended his contract for another two years.

Manly have confirmed they have ended negotiations with Michael Maguire, as they continue to look for Trent Barrett’s replacement.

The Sea Eagles released the following statement on their website.

The Club notes reports in today’s media in relation to the future structure of its football department.

As was shared with you at our Member Forum on Wednesday night, the Club is in ongoing discussions with a number of outstanding candidates to ensure the highest level of professional coaching for its playing group in response to Trent Barrett’s resignation.

These discussions remain ongoing and as advised on Wednesday, the Club expects to confirm the outcomes of them in the very near future.

As a part of this process, it became clear yesterday that the Club could not meet the proposed terms of one of these potential candidates, Michael Maguire, and negotiations came to an end.

The Club remains in discussions with several experienced and highly qualified candidates with a view to making this key appointment as a priority.

Nene Macdonald has signed a three-year deal with North Queensland after the Dragons released the winger from the final year of his contract on compassionate grounds.

Mixed on this . He had a pretty good year in all , but overall there’s to many times when he’s error strewn and culpable in defence
