Surely not... surely not...

There's a story going round that Des Hasler is being readied to take over as head coach at Sea Eagles. Yes the same bloke who had issues there in 2011.

Now if Des get's the job that would not just be a surprise int would aolmost be comical.

Des Hasler is reportedly set to make a sensational return to Manly to take over the coaching duties from Trent Barrett.

According to Channel 9, Hasler’s management have been in deep negotiations with the Sea Eagles and it’s believed he has sorted out his issues with the owners, the Penn family, since his departure from the club in 2011.

RUMOUR:  Brisbane Broncos are monitoring Daly Cherry Evans situation very closely after he was said to be potentially exiting Manly.

Wanting another pay rise is he ? He’s caused a fair bit of the bother there indirectly with his actions .

Corey Oates is one of a trio of big-name, off-contract stars the Broncos are keen to re-sign, with club powerbrokers confident the representative winger's club future will be in Brisbane.

Oates and forwards Matt Lodge and Tevita Pangai jnr remain the off-contract stars the Broncos are yet to wrap up beyond this season.

Oates has only linked with leading player manager George Mimis in the last six weeks and negotiations with Broncos CEO Paul White are on track.

“5 weeks still waiting for a contract??” Hayne tweeted in reply to a plea from a fan for the club to re-sign him on Friday night.

Newcastle:

Slade Griffin is not expected to take the field in 2019 and has reportedly been offered a role with the club’s coaching staff.

The Newcastle Herald is reporting that Griffin is set to be appointed as the club’s wrestling coach, with Nathan Brown conceding the luckless 27-year-old is unlikely to play NRL next season after his fourth ACL injury.

That all seems very strange . I thought the whole point of building it was for them to play in . You’d have thought they’d have worked everything out

According to what I've read the Stadium company is asking more money than Parra are prepared to pay. They have undertaken a comparitive study and say they have found other clubs get a better deal than the one proposed for them.

That's the problem with the many clubs  who might have access to good stadia but don't actually own them or very much else  for that matter other than staff and players.

As David said a bit late to discuss costs now. I would imagine that such things would have been agreed before demolition started! Seems millions wasted for no reason. The old stadium was OK still for a few years though a Roof would have been good!

Unimpressed and where the yellow gone? It looks very bland. I would have yellow lightening and a.yellow Chevron on the shirt.

You mean like this?

Maybe a bit more subtle would be along the lines of:

I think I prefer that second one

Australian Rugby League Commission Chairman, Peter Beattie led congratulations today for fellow Commissioner, Professor Megan Davis, who last night received two Australian Financial Review (AFR) Women of Influence awards.

Amongst a raft of achievements, Ms Davis is an Aboriginal activist and human rights lawyer and last night, was awarded the AFR’s overall Woman of Influence award, together with the Public Policy award.

“These are well deserved awards for someone that has achieved a phenomenal amount for so many people, both here in Australia and around the world,” Mr Beattie said.

“Megan is one of the hardest working people I know, and we are fortunate to have her as part of our Commission.

“Her support for rugby league is legendary, as is her resolve to achieve greater recognition for our First Nations peoples.

“On behalf of everyone in our game, Megan deserves a huge congratulations.”

Leutele:

Cronulla centre Ricky Leutele is one of six  signings by Toronto Wolfpack for their third season in the English game.

The Canadian club have acted quickly to bolster their squad for a second campaign in the Championship after narrowly failing to secure promotion to Super League in 2018.

Leutele, a 28-year-old Samoa international, becomes the Wolfpack's second marquee player, alongside former Manly Sea Eagles prop Darcy Lussick.

They will be joined at the Lamport Stadium in 2019 by ex-England loose forward Jon Wilkin, Joe Mellor and Tom Olbison from relegated Widnes, Warrington second-rower Bodene Thompson and Castleford prop Gadwin Springer.

Can’t believe Darcy Lussick is a marque signing. He’s been nothing but ordinary in games for Toronto I’ve seen, barely good enough for Super League

Des Hasler has officially been appointed as head coach of the Manly Sea Eagles for the next 3 seasons.

Reports say Manly won't pay Trent Barrett off, so it's not clear  what'll happen with him.

They won’t make it clear despite being asked directly . Quite bizarre
