Spedding

Spedding was one of our worst signings for a long time. Absolute liability in defence and couldn’t attack for toffee. Definitely the right thing to do releasing him. If he ain’t good enough to get in our side then how is he going to get into the fev side??

Most disappointing signing for many years and I'm told was on decent money too. Says it all when cresta would rather play back rowers carrying injuries in the centres instead of spedding.

The correct decision for the club and the player. However I remember watching Jake play for Sheffield against us last year, and he tore us apart in the right centre. Maybe he was low on confidence with being played on the wing and not getting in the team?? You can't blame him for taking the opportunity to sign with Featherstone. As I think most of the current players would if they weren't playing week in week out. It didn't work out for him at Barrow, and I agree with some of the comments on here. But I will wish him all the best. Anyone who takes to the field these days deserves some credit. I was a little bit disappointed with Crestas comments in the paper. I found them a little bit unprofessional and bitter.

The reason he was played on the wing and dropped is because he was a turnstile in defence & couldn't be trusted

He must have been reading this forum.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

On paper it was a cracking signing at the start of the season. He was the best player on the pitch when we played them at home he made 2 or 3 clean breaks and we couldn't handle him.

His defence has been very poor with both his contact and his decision making. He seems to have lost his confidence early in the season and it never recovered.

I wish him well, I'm not a fan of slagging off players publicly to be honest. Jake will likely have his side to the story which he will now repeatedly be asked about his side of the story and I doubt he is going to speak highly of the club due to what has been said.

Another one is referenced in the story.

Im glad the club are getting rid of people who dont want to be there.

And what about people who want to better themselves? Surely they deserve a crack too? I wouldn’t begrudge a play for sorting his future for next season as early as he can. Bills to pay etc.

Nothing wrong but with securing your future but think of it as any other business. ??

Imagine if the coach propsed this to secure his future by doing something similar... .

It doesn’t matter if it’s player or coach. If there’s an offer on the table, and if you don’t take it there’s a likelihood that the club will pick up another player, you take it. It’s as simple as that. Folk have to remember that some of these players play as a career, and so securing that whilst they can, with an opportunity to play in the Championship next season, is the best decision for themselves. The player in question is staying at Barrow until the end of the season and judging by his performance today is still doing everything he can to try and keep Barrow up

When you all find out who Creary was referring to as signing for another champ club for next year you will all change you tune. Its not unexpected given his efforts for Barrow for the last two years and i'm somewhat surprised he isn't playing SL. And I don't for one minute think the coach was meaning this lad was disruptive in the article. It was taken out of context

Not hard to work out which players will be wanting away or going to a championship club is it ?
