Austin ambassador 1983, a very good year for Austin ambassadors

Not a patch on a Hindustan Ambassador though

Mine was Triumph Spitfire I bought it in 1999 before Id passed my test - never drove it as I failed my test and didn’t bother passing it until 2011 whilst living in Australia, the test over there was a lot easier than here and I just swapped it for a UK one when I moved back 🙂

I’ve continued the trend of buying impractical cars ever since.

When you've had a van, you look on cars with a degree of disdain ... most of them are relatively impractical.

Ford Cortina Mk III, in vomit green

then a Beige Ford Escort mk II

then a Nissan Cherry

then a Crpa Vauxhall Astra Mk 3,

then a Peugeot 405, built like a tank, then nothing for 15 years, as you don't need a car in London,

then a Corsa, then a drivings ban again

Pity, that's the only one you could have put a roof rack and ladders on.

Old well used Ford Cortina Mk1, cream with 2 red ‘go faster stripes’

Scrapped it after the front springs kept coming through the bodywork and pushing the bonnet up.  The headlights were ‘araldited’ in as well.

No fond memories of it.

Passed my test in my Dad's Nissan Cherry 1.3 SGL Spirit. D809 HWW.

Great car, never broke down, even though my brother and I thrashed the t!ts off it for a number of years. It was on 150,000 or so miles when he sold it.

The first car I owned was a pea green Nova saloon. Cost £100. Four gears 1.2l.

B637 NVN

An ugly car and always thought the NVN stood for not very nice.

Still it did for me for a couple of years.

A 1.3 Fiesta, reg N189HUM. It was an awful shade of khaki green, and was bought from my aunt.

A clapped out Triunph Herald , after a week or two the boot jammed solid , never got in there till the day i scrapped it , and in winter it let in so much moisture the accelarator pedal froze solid when it was freezing outside .The joys of being young and poor .
