Actually marketing the games would be a start.

Making it more than just about the rugby would help also, Bradford did this well at the start of super league.

For example look up jaxon de ville and compare that to SL equivilant

Bradford were miles off 25k crowds. How would you market them to grow attendances by such a huge amount?

They had a few crowds over 20k including 24k v Leeds in 1999 and 23k a couple of years later.

Was their average ever anywhere near 20k though, let alone 25. Iirc it was more like 15k at the peak?

Averages require high crowds and lower crowds hence the word average.

Not sure what point you’re trying to make here, it’s certainly not that Bradford’s excellent marketing in the 90s gave them 25k crowds, but it’s probably best if we leave it.

A bit like 20,000 Bradford fans did....

I remember Lenegan setting a goal of a 20k average some years ago and me saying that it was never going to be achieved. Until attendances are raised across the board, significantly, then no club would get such averages. For every 25k sellout against Saints you need to be getting at least 15k against Wakefield or Hull FC on possibly a Thursday night.

Whilst I certainly don't buy the away fans argument when it comes to what clubs bring to the table, the levels that are often cited are usually too low to materially matter and there are other variables at play, you would need every away club to be bringing at least 4k fans consistently to even get close to a 20k average then still have several 25k sellouts a year.

The game is no where near strong enough to get close to that.
