Brown and Maduire are past their sell by dates. Griffin has lost the confidence of the club as a whole. Toomey has been away from 1st grade coaching for too long and Flanagan has "baggage". Bellamy shouldn't leave the Storm unless he retires. That leaves Hornby, Ryles, Young and Hasler from your list. How about John Morris?

Not sure that Griffin has lost the confidence of the club as a whole. Judging by the number of fans wanting an autograph and a selfie with him outside gate A at Kogarah before their first game against the titans.

Certainly not the players for whom this is a distraction. Look when you get the sitauation where your coach is a dead man walking so to speak the following happens with players:

  • You wonder will the new coach want me?
  • Will the wife and kids want to upstakes and move from Woolongong to say Townsville or Melbourne or across the ditch to NZ?
  • Can I find another club?
  • Players start playing for themselves and not the team

We have already heard from some new recruits how they feel playing for the Red V is McJob. If you were going to part ways with the coach then it should have been done in the off season not starting rumours two rounds into this years competition.

As with West Tigers the answer is - Sack The Board.

Nothing is going to change at the Dragons until they get a professional board that want success and are prepared to go the hard yards and get a coach and let him pick his staff, then let him have full control to buy the players  he needs to turn this club back into a premiership force. There are only 5 men in the game that can do that....Wayne Bennett, Craig Bellamy, Phil Gould, Trent Robinson or Ivan Cleary......Money has to be thrown at these guys, how much? who knows just get one of them and get the Dragons back to where they should be....AT THE TOP OF THE TABLE.

Looks like Griffin is in the final desperate throws at the club.

Dropping players without telling them why doesn’t sound like good professional player management.

Then there’s rumblings about captain Ben Hunt, who’s spoken up for Griffin, being looked at by another club who must fancy if Griffin goes Hunt might be unsettled and be ready to leave, despite being contracted there until end of 2025.

The whole coaching merry-go-round of the last few years is so un-NRL like.

Would be surprised if it happened, but would love to see Shaun Wane have a go at St.George.

As was talked about last year, they should change their name to just the Dragons and play the vast majority of home matches in Wollongong. I'm not a fan of mergers. IMO they're still the same club that won those Premierships in the 60's. Why name something after a Greek guy?

I have always thought that Shaun Wane should get a coaching gig in the NRL, He had Wigan playing some great football.

I kind of feel the Dragons need stability. Shaun Wane would bring that. Wane is also very good at getting the best out of his players. Ryles obviously must be highly thought of as an up and coming coach, but often young coaches coming into troubled clubs doesn't work. There are of course examples of where it has worked, so time will tell. If they do in fact go with Ryles, which looks likely at the moment.

I don’t mind this appointment tbh . Given where the Dragons are it’s probably the best they can get . He’s a recent premiership winning coach who built up a club over time . If he’s the man then let him do that , geez it needs it and the people above him have shown the less involvement they have the better

You get the feeling that the first team coach isn’t the real problem at the Dragons & a complete overhaul of the entire joint venture is long overdue.

That's the problem, it's a joint venture. There are too many NRL sides in Sydney, they should be called The Dragons with the Tigers moving to Brisbane. Cut the Eagles and Sharks from the NRL.
