RFL and BBC don't understand Rugby League!

I could tell you'd misinterpreted the original but I was surprised at your explanation of the 2 point field goal which said it applied when the kicker was further than 40m. from the opposition goal line i.e. in his own half!!!!

It just tickled me. I'm sure you can see with hindsight that you can be more than 40m from the opposition goal line, without being in your own half. No biggie Harry my old chum, I'm just trying to stay involved, when there seem to be hardly anything of note to comment on.

Yeah my fault Irish, my misinterpretation from memory what I wrote this is the correct version:-

2 points for field goal outside the 40m line.

To encourage more unstructured play and increase the chances of a result changing in the final moments of a game, a 2-point field goal will be awarded for teams who kick a field goal from outside the 40m line. The new rule will provide an incentive to seek an additional point scoring opportunity at critical times of a match, particularly with limited time remaining on the clock in each half.

So as you can see Irish it is not 40 mtrs it is from outside the 40 mtr line, i.e your own field of play.

That didn't help Harry. Now I'm even more confused.

Victory extended Leigh's longest-ever unbeaten home run in Super League to seven matches, with Wigan the last side to take points home, back on 4 April.

More importantly it kept them within five points of the play-off places, with sixth-placed Salford due to visit next weekend.

Magic init 🤦🏻‍♂️

Probably looked at ticket sales for the Sunday and moved it to LSV

Why?

Well which 40m line are we talking about?

If I ''own'' my half of the field (the one which contains my try line and my in-goal area) and you ''own'' the other half, then ''my'' 40m line is in ''my'' half and your 40m line is in ''your'' half. OK? So far so good, (I hope).

So, as I understood it, I can kick a 2 point field goal (drop goal) if i'm nearer my own try line than your 40m line. That still gives me 10m of your half of the field to kick the goal from without necessitating me being ''in my own half''.

Forgive me for being so pedantic (but I can't make any sense of your post without being so picky) but you seemed to say that I had to be further than your 40m line and then said I had to be in my own half!!!!! Which is a slight (not an earth shattering one) contradiction.

So let's have it? Am I right, or do I have to be in my own half of the field to kick a 2 point field goal?

Assuming of course, that I'm in Australia, in the first place.

Harry, we play on pitches that are 50m from the half way line. outside the 40m line is not in "your own field of play"

Yes, you are correct it is the 40mtr line 10 mtrs inside your opponents half is the demarcation line.
