Do these signs also feature the words "No Blacks, No Irish" ?

only if they are "black" labradors or "irish" wolfhounds.
"Why is Napoleon crying ?" said one sailor to the other, "poor ###### thinks he's being exiled to st helens" came the reply.

Perhaps on entry into grounds we should wire everyone up to a central machine that automatically elecrocutes anyone using foul language. dry.gif

The last thing I knew we had laws of free-speech in this country. There is swearing at every game and the minute you get rid of it atmospheres will evaporate. Try as you might it will never happen in sport. Rugby games are not held in libraries and I reserve the right to chant banterous, stupid, good-humoured songs at opposition fans and players, with special provision to disparage KR fans/players/board members.

There are specific laws agains homophobic hatred and it would seem that Cas fans sailed very close to the wind in regards to GT. Until there are specific laws against hair colour hatred I cannot see the RFL having a case against such chants as those from Leeds fans last night.

Is free speech connected to offensive language?

The game is promoted as the "Family game" pretty hard to promote that concept if all around you are blind drunk swearing obscenities at the team or players they hate.

Just a couple of points, yes there are specific laws around race, however there are also more general equality laws which are available to all who wish to use them.

Also there are laws about offensive language. If you wish to try them out, find your local policeman, pick a feature and swear at him or her. FIrst time you'll probably get a warning but say it 2 or 3 times you wil be arrested.

Just because the majority of society ignore laws does not mean that the laws do not exist.

Also the law is only part of this the RL is a business and as such can persue what ever image they wish to portray and so can fine along anylines within their current rules eg bringing the game into disrepute is a nice wide ranging rule that covers what ever you want it to really

Whether they bother is a business matter. It's good business to not appear homophobic as it was an internal charge not a criminal charge against the club. I'm not so sure whether it's good business to be pro ginger, but we'll see.

Super League the only place in the world where people still believe that less competitors and a closed market to new competition will improve the quality of the product.

Even the Chinese and the Cubans gave up on these marxist principles years ago.

SL with a reduced number of competitors and a closed market = North Korea.

Why would you expect any better when their players acted like drunken, intimidatory chavs after their late winner against Wigan.

I don't mind the language just 2 faced people who just think it's one clubs issue, every club has fans that swear and society is generally worse than fans at a club.

The "C" word is becoming more prominent nowadays too, also at matches.

Was it them throwing the missiles that were landing on the children sat on the wall or was that the wigan fans eh Finn. Wigan were a disgrace to rugby league that day and although hull.f.c are awaiting punishment for their missile throwing versus leeds at the K.C it would appear that wigan seem to get off scot free, i wonder why?

Just because they're a Welsh Super League team, doesn't mean they aren't welcome...

ask bitofaboogie
Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in.

I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try

Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

ask bitofaboogie

I'll tell you why - it is most likely due to that fact that any investigation of the behaviour of one or two idiots at the cup quarter final would also have to involve some discussion of the reasons for such behaviour - in this case the unnecessary, inflammatory, unprofessional and intimidatory behaviour of the 13 idiots on the pitch wearing blue and amber.

The RFL are in the business of helping and promoting The Leeds Rhinos, not punishing them for the actions of their employees which could lead to adverse publicity for this saintly and august institution; so don't expect any investigation of the incident in question any time soon.

Now if this had happened at Castleford and the 13 idiots were wearing black and amber then there is every possibility that the RFL would have deemed a large fine as being totally appropriate.

As far as I could see, the only thing in any danger of landing on any kids sat on the wall that day was that well-known refugee from Rugby Union and deferred salary payment receiver, Lee Smith. Had Smith behaved like a professional Rugby League footballer that day then no children would ever have been in any danger. Unfortunately, Smith and his colleagues in blue and amber chose to behave like morons, consequently children were endangered en masse.

As the RFL (Rules For Leeds) seems quite prepared to hold clubs financially responsible for the actions of individuals within their grounds on match days, perhaps The Rhinos should be investigated over their stewarding of this incident? I, for one, never heard any PA announcements regarding either bottle-throwing or fan-taunting. I doubt that anything will happen though. Now were this kind of thing to happen at Castleford, who knows, the RFL might be able to boost it's coffers by another 40 grand.

SPECSAVERS, 34-35 MARKETGATE SHOPPING CENTRE, WIGAN.

I suggest you and your one eyed pal bitofaboogie take yourselves down there to buy yourselves new monocles, your current ones obviously don't work. Disgrace to rugby league, ten times worse than cas and the thomas incident, yet your fans either kid they didn't see it or try to condone it. Are you related to Arsene Wenger by any chance?

...also around disability.
Barrie Mac used to get abuse most weeks for his.
No pronouncement about that from the RFL or indeed anyone on here.

Foul chanting at anyone is abhorrant, I cringed on Saturday.

By the way did anyone notice over 300 people on the pitch at halftime?
- introduction of new North Leeds club to gather schools players
- 5 simultaneous games of mini-mod
- two troops each of c 100 dancers, trained and looked after in recent weeks by the Rhinos cheerleaders
- attendees at the Rhinos summer camp

Despicable club, Leeds Rhinos, all that communinty work and still cant get their ginger policy under control.

Anyway, back to the opportunistic slating of the Southstand and their outrageous appreciation of the-pre match opera singer, applause for the half time community efforts and reception for both teams at the end

All well and good, but none of that was on the tele.
