  1. I actually meant to say 'not just Siddal', not quite sure what came over me!
  2. I'm sure you thought you were making a good/hilarious point here, but 2019 would be a good example of a year where all teams were competitive and the teams at the bottom picked up wins all through the season.
  3. Halifax are certainly an interesting case. As a club, they are well within the heartlands but have enough of their own 'patch' not to be overlapping with lots of other clubs, e.g. they are the only club within their local authority area. While not a city, it is similar population-wise to Wakefield and, as states, has a relatively healthy community game (not just Siddal). The stadium is fine and handily located for the town centre. Having lived nearby for a couple of years, I think the club try hard to get kids into the ground from local schools/clubs but they face the same challenges as anywhere else in that most kids walk around in Man City and Liverpool tops. I thought they were starting to build a decent team and put up a decent showing v Catalans in the cup, but their recent form has been alarming.
  4. Doesn't sound like he's the sharpest. I think Dodd is a good player but not sure I would rate him as NRL starting half back quality. Obviously wish him well as it is healthy to have players in the NRL.
  5. Tunbridge Wells Moaners and the Battle Axes are both good names for RL clubs.
  6. If we only had one team, imagine how intense the matches would be? So intense. We would beat the Aussies every time they came over.
  7. It's been a good season so far. There have been some good games, a handful of excellent ones, and some fine pieces of skill. No team is unbeatable, and all of the front runners (Wigan, Saints, Catalans) have shown some fallibility. You've then got six teams who are at very similar levels who are beating each other regularly and playing out some exciting games, so the race for the top six looks very healthy indeed and hard to call. I tend to align myself with those who point out that we have a few very poor teams down at the bottom, and that isn't a healthy position in a fairly small league. I don't think that has anything to do with a lack of relegation - except perhaps in London's case - but do think the lack of relegation means we won't see a desperate bid by any of those poor teams to improve in-season. There are probably mixed views on whether that is a good thing.
  8. No issue with penalty try (even if I think Brierley is very close to over running it) but state of Brierley's appeal there.
  9. I don't think that was a try, but why is there always a better angle available after the video ref has made the decision while looking at far worse angles?
