  1. He's a very good player ... Superleague quality. A second row with a really good offload. Bobby Fulton would have been so proud to watch him play for the Bulls, because he never had that opportunity.
  2. I disagree that the Championship is at its worst for years. Whether its standard is lower is debatable but this season's competition is close. It's comparable with the English Soccer Championship. No one can deny it's well below the Premiership (or Superleague for the RL equivalent) but on any weekend there's an upset result or two. Swinton, Widnes and Sheffield are stronger than they've been for years. The Bulls are about the same level as the last few years; Featherstone and Halifax aren't. Most teams have a few Superleague-quality players.
  3. As a Bulls fan, I can thoroughly recommend John Kear as his replacement.
  4. Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won't expect it back. Oscar Wilde Genuine thanks anyway
  5. I'm a big music fan but, before last night's BBC2 Neil Diamond schedule, I didn't realise how great an artist he is. Brian Johnson and Mark Knopfler have a new interview series on on Sky Arts. I watched two last night ... Tom Jones and Emmylou Harris. Both really good shows and I'm going to have to suspend my 40-year hatred of Dire Straits. Mark Knopfler is really good on this show, so he's on probation! Mind you, Tom let himself down when he took them to a Working Mens Club in South Wales and bought them each a pint of electric John Smiths.
  6. My close friend of many years was a Burnley fanatic, he would be delighted to see that they have a chance of staying in the Premiership. Two from three teams will be relegated. The landlord of my "local" (it's actually in the city centre) is also a Burnley fanatic and feels the same. Following my friend's death, I became a nominal Burnley fan, so I too should be delighted. However the team is full of foreign players ... far more than were in the team that got promoted. My feeling is that I hope Burnley stay up ... but I'm not much bothered if they don't.
  7. Two Welshmen in the NFL. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/other-sport/million-dollar-welsh-superstar-already-29026703 https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/louis-rees-zammits-legendary-new-29009829
  8. Unintentionally funny headline in the Western Mail https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/man-arrested-suspicion-indecent-exposure-29050247#source=breaking-news
  9. One Wales' best footballers of the last 50 years; Leighton James, aged 71.
  10. Both disappointed when Bulls coach.
  11. I'm not sure whether this has been posted. Talk TV is coming off the telly this summer. Continuing on the Internet.
  12. He got banned for drug usage .... theoretically, if he did the crime and he did the time, he should rightly be allowed to resume his career. He reportedly hasn't paid his ex-partner any of the money owed to her in court-specified damages. It would seem to me that the same court could demand that a proportion of his rugby wages should be deducted at source and paid to his ex-partner.
  13. As a Bulls fan, I think Rohan Smith is a fantastic coach and deserves a 5-year contract-extension.
  14. Some fantastic open-air acts on at the Piece Hall in Halfax this summer. https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/live-at-the-piece-hall-tickets/artist/5364605
