Wolford6 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Here's an excellent Cycling News guide to the Spring Classic one-day races. They'll probably all be live on Eurosport. http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/the-cyclingnews-guide-to-the-2015-spring-classics Under Scrutiny by the Right-On Thought Police
latchford albion Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 it was a very good weekend for British Cycling with Ian Stannard winning the Omloop on Saturday and Mark Cavendish Kuerne-Brussels-Kuerne on Sunday. I can't wait for Paris Roubaix, especially as Bradley seems to have made that and the hour record his season's priority. Futtocks Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Revolution Cycling highlights are being shown on Channel 4. Some stuff you don't normally see, like a Derny Race (not a Keirin) and a Longest Lap event, which I'd heard of but never seen. The programme's only 1 hour long, so it is all a bit rushed, but still fun. Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Wolford6 Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 Milan - San Remo today; now on Eurosport. The world's longest single-stage classic race; riders have 50 miles left and it's been raining for a while. With two short steep climbs just before the finish, it's a race for hard men with Alexander Kristoff, John Degenkolb, Fabien Cancellara all fancied. Sky have a real chance with Ian Stannard and Geraint Thomas working for Ben Swift. Have set it the record button ready for setting off to Odsal. Under Scrutiny by the Right-On Thought Police

WearyRhino Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Degenkolb gets the win. Too technical coming into San Remo for the Sky boys methinks.
Wolford6 Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 Heroic effort by Geraint Thomas to try and wear out the sprinters. Hard luck by Greg van Avermart in trying to get clear on the last descent. If Sky couldn't win, I would have wanted John Degenkolb or Andrei Greipel to do it. Great race. Wolford6 Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Great win on the cobbles in Belgium today for Geraint Thomas and Richie Porte leads the Tour of Catalunya. Richie Porte is supposed to be riding shotgun for Chris Froome but Froome's form is shot to pieces. He may be having one of his periodic bouts of ill health but Sky must be worried about his chances in the TdF. Seeing as Porte failed miserably in last years TdF, Thomas may get the gig. Ullman Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Thomas back in the chasing group in Gent-Wevelgem after a brief foray into a Belgian drainage ditch. "I'm from a fishing family. Trawlermen are like pirates with biscuits." - Lucy Beaumont.

Caught the finish of the Tour of Catalunya earlier. Looked like Porte had a comfortable enough ride to overall victory. Bit of a contrast from the Spanish sunshine to the cold, rain and mud of Flanders when switching over to watch Gent-Wevelgem. "I'm from a fishing family. WearyRhino Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Brave effort by Geraint Thomas, just didn't have it in his legs in the last few K's - 1st and 3rd in the space of 3 days though. Could well be a front runner in Paris-Roubaix. Sky have decisions to make as to who they put in the Tour of Flanders next week and who goes to Paris-Roubaix a week later - Wiggins seems to be a totally spent force.

Really good effort by Geraint considering the race took place in a howling gale and, at one point, he was blown off his bike when he lost balance for a moment in mud. He went flying but got back on his bike to rejoin the leading group Under Scrutiny by the Right-On Thought Police
Wolford6 Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 Bjarne Riis founded Team Saxo, then sold it to Oleg Tinkoff who is a Russian oligarch. Riis remained as sports director. Tinkoff's money then paid for the signatures and contracts of two superstar riders ... Peter Sagan and Alberto Contador ... for this season. The team has started badly this year, Riis has just been sacked. Team spirit is low, as evidenced in its performances this week in the Tour of Catalunya , Gent Wegelgem and E3 Herelbeke. So now, the big three who were expected to mount a titanic rivalry in the Tour de France ... Contador, Nibali and Froome ... are all doing really badly in their races. At least one will find some form. If not Nairo Quintana will be waiting to pounce. Could this be the year that Geraint Thomas finds his feet in a grand tour? TdF will be won and lost on the slopes of Alpe d'huez
WearyRhino Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I could have written Wiggo off too early. Looking good at first split on ITT at 3 Days de Panne.
WearyRhino Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Wiggins wins the ITT at 3 Days de Panne and makes the podium at 3rd overall. Not sure a relatively short TT says too much about his form for a 7hrs Paris Roubaix though.

WearyRhino Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Tour of Flanders is a fairly brutal race in any case, you really don't need this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jedlVT2tYE&feature=youtu.be
Wolford6 Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Chaos at the Tour de Flanders. Neutral suport cars have taken out two riders. Both drivers have been withdrawn. Apparently, there are now no neutral support cars. Under Scrutiny by the Right-On Thought Police
Wolford6 Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Even more chaos. An overhead iflatable arch has sprung a leak. The riders just got under and now it is in danger of collapsing on the team cars following the race. 40 miles to go and the race is being run in unusually warm, dry and non-windy conditions. Riders who would typically have little chance of winning are now in with a shout. Sky has just put the hammer down to try and tire out the other teams. Under Scrutiny by the Right-On Thought Police

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
