I’m a bit surprised by that, wouldn’t have thought the Warriors would want him to leave

Ken has underscored your point on his leaving Warriors with a hat trick of tries on his last game with them. It was the only bright spot in the game Warriors lost heavily to Melbourne.

Cronulla captain Wade Graham will take an extended break from the NRL as he deals with symptoms from repeated concussions.

Graham suffered his third concussion and fourth head knock this season in the Sharks’ one-point win over Penrith and will spend the next four weeks away from the game and seek advice from a specialist.

It’s the right thing to do.

Sad news, but almost certainly the best decision.

No surprise but what is concerning is the number of players who are having to retire from concussion. Stevie Ward over here and Friend and Cordner there in the past couple of years. Tom Johnstone and Wade Graham having to take extended time out the game. Really worrying trend

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has played his last game for the Bulldogs after agreeing to a long-term deal with the New Zealand Warriors.

It is understood the former Kiwi Test skipper will join the Warriors for the next three-and-a-half years.

He will be a direct replacement for Ken Maumalo, who joined the Tigers this week.

Watene-Zelezniak had 18 months remaining on his Canterbury deal, with the final season worth about $800,000.

Released from Canberra mid-season amid acrimony, George Williams has been picked in the England rugby league squad before arriving back in his home country.

The halfback star was named in coach Shaun Wane's provisional 24-man national squad for next Friday's fixture against the Combined Nations All Stars at Warrington.

Williams is travelling back to England after securing a release on compassionate grounds from his NRL contract with the Raiders, reportedly homesick and having several times sought a return home.

He is expected to join Warrington, with Gareth Widdop reportedly set to leave the Super League outfit mid-season to return to the NRL with either Canberra or the Warriors.

An Australian international and Queensland State of Origin representative centre turned five-eighth, he played his club football for the Gold Coast Seagulls, North Sydney Bears and Brisbane Broncos, with whom he won the 2000 premiership, before being forced into early retirement in 2004 by injury. He was previously a commentator for the Nine Network.

Ben Ikin: “I know the Broncos need to be better and in this role I get a great opportunity to make them better and be part of the solution.”

Ikin said that would be part of his role going forward, but said the most important thing the club needed to rise out of the doldrums was to have everyone singing from the same hymn sheet.

“It’s to work with the head coach to oversee the football program. Absolutely (roster management) it is a big part of it,” Ikin said.

“That (who’ll do the hiring and firing) is to be determined.

“As I see it, when I get in there and sit down with the head coach and CEO we will map out how this is going to work.

“But between the CEO, chairman, head coach and the GM of football, as is the case in most clubs, it’s about alignment.

“It’s a shared responsibility, it’s not about reporting lines.

“At the moment for the Broncos it’s about getting everybody on the same page and as quickly as possible.”

His first task should be to get rid of the clown they have as head coach except they were both part of the Fox sports glee club, it's like the Mason's except it does less good work!

So Taukeiaho was cleared in 10 minutes at the judiciary ( yeh I agree , why that long ? ) . Reading the argument put forward by the NRL prosecutor I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry . Apparently it was evident that Cleary was falling and Taukeiaho had enough time to change his tackle technique . This is at the core of a lot of my discontent with this whole clampdown . The whole disconnect between a black and white policy imprinted without nuance upon the game and the reality of the game on the paddock .

Dragons winger Mikaele Ravalawa will miss the next four games after being found guilty of a shoulder charge.

Ravalawa was charged over a grade-one shoulder charge on Canberra’s Elliott Whitehead in the Dragons’ narrow win at WIN Stadium.

He went to the judiciary to deny the charge but was found guilty.

Eels duo Nathan Brown and Marata Niukore have taken the early guilt plea and copped a fine of $2,150 each for careless high tackles in Parramatta’s win over the Bulldogs.

Canterbury prop Luke Thompson took a $1350 fine for a dangerous contact charge stemming from an incident with Dylan Brown.

Meanwhile, Nelson Asofa-Solomona is set to miss the next two games for Melbourne after being charged for dangerous contact on the head/neck of Joe Ofahengaue.

He is looking at two weeks after taking the early guilty plea.

Ben Murdoch-Masila (Warriors) and Lachlan Fitzgibbon (Knights) have both copped $1700 fines for high contact charges from Saturday’s game.

Tevita Pangai Jnr may have played his last game for the Broncos with the forward facing a four week ban for a crusher tackle.

It’s money for old rope.

They are coining it in from players.

I hope the money is going directly to player welfare rather than paying in some way for all the overtime for the judiciary who are on overdrive.

Warriors have added Townsend then and as mentioned earlier Dallin Watene-Zelzniak from Bulldogs.

As for Townsend, it is of course a short term deal to the end of this season as he is bound for Cowboys in 2022.
